{"id":115649,"date":"2021-12-03T04:05:24","date_gmt":"2021-12-03T03:05:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=115649"},"modified":"2021-12-03T04:05:24","modified_gmt":"2021-12-03T03:05:24","slug":"two-remanded-for-beheading-nine-year-old-boy-in-rivers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/03\/two-remanded-for-beheading-nine-year-old-boy-in-rivers\/","title":{"rendered":"Two remanded for beheading nine-year-old boy in Rivers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two men, Keneth Sylvanus and Chijioke Ogbonna have been remanded for allegedly beheading a nine-year-old boy, Destiny Peter, in Agbandele community, in the Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State.<\/p>\n<p>The defendants are standing trial at the magistrate\u2019s court sitting in Port Harcourt on three counts of conspiracy and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/01\/zamfara-police-arrest-3-members-of-proscribed-group-for-gruesome-murder-of-fulanis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">murder<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When the matter was called, Sylvanus informed the court that a third suspect in the case, Chibuzor Amadi, was granted bail by the police before their arraignment.<\/p>\n<p>In his ruling, Chief Magistrate I.F. Iyabo, remanded the two defendants and directed the prosecutor to liaise with the attorney general\u2019s office to produce the third accused person on the next adjourned date of Monday, December 6, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that the three suspects, Sylvanus, Ogbonna and Amadi, were paraded on November 19 by the Rivers State Police Command for allegedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/20\/herbalist-two-others-arrested-over-beheading-of-rivers-schoolboy-for-ritual\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">beheading the nine-year-old boy<\/a> in Agbandele.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for the state police command, Nnamdi Omoni, in a statement on November 19, 2021, said operatives recovered the dismembered body of the victim, adding that the arrest of the three suspects was through intelligence gathering.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two men, Keneth Sylvanus and Chijioke Ogbonna have been remanded for allegedly beheading a nine-year-old boy, Destiny Peter, in Agbandele community, in the Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State.
