Those exempted from VAT would be able to recover the fund if they provided their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/09\/16\/tax-credit-globacom-to-reconstruct-ota-idiroko-road-in-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tax ID<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The new 7.5 percent VAT charge will also apply to Instagram ads.<\/p>\n<p>The statement read; \u201cDue to implementation of a value-added tax (VAT) in Nigeria, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/19\/three-nigerians-arrested-for-using-fake-facebook-profile-to-defraud-female-doctor-of-n7-5m-in-india\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook<\/a> is required to charge VAT on the sale of ads to advertisers, regardless of whether you\u2019re buying ads for business or personal purposes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll advertisers with a business country of Nigeria will be charged an additional 7.5% VAT on advertising services purchased beginning 1 January 2022.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re registered for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/09\/zainab-ahmed-no-changes-to-vat-stamp-duty-regime-in-2021-finance-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">VAT<\/a> and provide your VAT ID, your VAT ID will show up on your ads receipts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the event that you\u2019re entitled to recover the VAT, this may help you recover any VAT you paid to the Nigerian tax authorities if you are a VAT registered business in Nigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Social media giant, Facebook has announced that Nigerians will pay 7.5 percent value-added tax (VAT) on all ad placements from January 1, 2022.
