{"id":119207,"date":"2021-12-10T12:38:36","date_gmt":"2021-12-10T11:38:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=119207"},"modified":"2021-12-10T12:38:36","modified_gmt":"2021-12-10T11:38:36","slug":"man-remanded-in-prison-over-death-of-controversial-activist-who-sued-end-sars-supporters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/10\/man-remanded-in-prison-over-death-of-controversial-activist-who-sued-end-sars-supporters\/","title":{"rendered":"Man remanded in prison over death of controversial activist who sued End SARS supporters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The tenant who allegedly murdered staunch supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari, Kenechukwu Okereke has been arraigned in court and also remanded in prison custody.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that Kenechukwu Okereke was popular for speaking against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/05\/11\/sars-sold-dead-bodies-of-endsars-victims-to-teaching-hospitals-report\/\">End SARS movement. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Last year, he sued a number of celebrities, pastors, and groups who supported the End SARS protests<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, his wife announced last month that he has been killed by a former tenant\u00a0in Nkpor, Anambra state (read\u00a0here).<\/p>\n<p>Chiadikobi Nnadi, 29, has been arrested over Mr Okeke&#8217;s death.<\/p>\n<p>Nnadi allegedly led\u00a0a gang of six young men to attack Okeke in his house. They then macheted him,\u00a0poured fuel on him, and set him ablaze.<\/p>\n<p>The Anambra state police command\u2019s spokesperson, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga said\u00a0Chiadikobi Nnadi has been remanded in prison after being arraigned on Thursday, Dec. 9.<\/p>\n<p>Ikenga said: &#8220;The suspect, one Chiadikobi Nnaji, \u2018M\u2019 Aged 29 years implicated in the brutal murder of Kenechukwu Okeke has on 9th December, 2021 been charged to court and subsequently remanded in a correctional facility in Anambra State.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Recall, following the murder incident that took place in Nkpor on 28th October 2021, which also trended on the social media, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra Command, CP Echeng Echeng had then ordered the immediate arrest of persons linked to the murder. The order resulted in the investigation and arrest of Chiadikobi Nnaji.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The CP thanked members of the public, especially family members of the deceased as well as their well wishers for their various support which led to the arrest of the suspect.
