Jay Jay Okocha<\/a>, former Super Eagles player, was given a rapturous welcome and recognition by the fans of FC Fenerbahce of Turkey on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The 48-year-old Nigerian was also presented with a new Fenerbah\u00e7e jersey by Mesut Ozil, the club\u2019s first team captain.<\/p>\n

The recognition came just before the Yellow Canaries\u2019 final Europa League group game of the 2021\/22 season against Eintracht Frankfurt of Germany, which finished in a 1-1 draw.<\/p>\n

In a statement published on the club\u2019s official website on Thursday, the Turkish side described Okocha as \u201clegendary\u201d while reminiscing on the time the Nigerian played for the team.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hosted our legendary Nigerian player Jay-Jay Okocha at our stadium to watch Fenerbah\u00e7e\u2019s match against Germany\u2019s Eintracht Frankfurt at \u00dclker Stadium Fenerbah\u00e7e \u015e\u00fckr\u00fc Saraco\u011flu in the 6th and last week of UEFA Europa League Group D,\u201d the post read.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore the match, our captain Mesut \u00d6zil presented Okocha the number 10 Fenerbah\u00e7e jersey with his name on it. Our fans, who came to our stadium to watch the match, showed great interest to Jay-Jay Okocha with applause and cheers.\u201d<\/p>\n
