{"id":119500,"date":"2021-12-11T06:03:15","date_gmt":"2021-12-11T05:03:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=119500"},"modified":"2021-12-11T06:03:15","modified_gmt":"2021-12-11T05:03:15","slug":"man-wife-daughter-remanded-over-seven-year-olds-death-in-ekiti","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/11\/man-wife-daughter-remanded-over-seven-year-olds-death-in-ekiti\/","title":{"rendered":"Man, wife, daughter remanded over seven-year-old\u2019s death in Ekiti"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>63-year-old man, Banji Olajiga; his 57-year-old wife, Victoria and 31-year-old daughter, Sikemi, have been remanded in the Custodial Centre over the death of a neighbour\u2019s seven-year-old daughter, Demilade Fadare in Ekiti.<\/p>\n<p>The duo were arraigned by the police on one charge bordering on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/27\/murdered-oau-student-i-had-vision-of-glory-before-my-husbands-death-wife\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">murder<\/a> and negligence before an Ekiti State Chief Magistrate Court, sitting in Ado Ekiti on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The police prosecutor, Inspector Bamikole Olasunkanmi, told the court that \u201cthe defendants were on the 6th of December, 2021 reasonably suspected to have committed offence of murder and negligence, leading to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/10\/buhari-values-his-cows-than-42-sokoto-passengers-burnt-to-death-by-bandits-auta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">death<\/a> of seven-year-old Demilade Fadare in Adehun Area of Ado Ekiti.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe offences run contrary to sections 319 (1) and 343 of the Criminal Code Cap. C16, Laws of Ekiti State 2012,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the father of the deceased, Oluwasola Fadare, had in his statement to the police, said that \u201cafter searching for Demilade, who went to buy pap for their breakfast on the fateful day, they got the information at the police station that the body of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/10\/osun-govt-rescues-abandoned-malnourished-7-year-old-girl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">girl<\/a> was found in their neighbour\u2019s house in a cooler with trace of her blood on the floor\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendants pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>The Chief Magistrate, Michael Faola, who granted the request of the prosecutor, said, \u201cThe defendants are hereby ordered to be remanded in the Nigeria Correctional Centre pending issuance of legal advice from office of DPP\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>63-year-old man, Banji Olajiga; his 57-year-old wife, Victoria and 31-year-old daughter, Sikemi, have been remanded in the Custodial Centre over the death of a neighbour\u2019s seven-year-old daughter, Demilade Fadare in Ekiti.
