{"id":119777,"date":"2021-12-11T18:53:49","date_gmt":"2021-12-11T17:53:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=119777"},"modified":"2021-12-11T18:53:49","modified_gmt":"2021-12-11T17:53:49","slug":"ebonyi-civil-servants-to-get-bags-of-rice-n10000-as-christmas-gifts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/11\/ebonyi-civil-servants-to-get-bags-of-rice-n10000-as-christmas-gifts\/","title":{"rendered":"Ebonyi civil servants to get bags of rice, N10,000 as \u2018Christmas gifts\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Civil servants, including pensioners, in Ebonyi State, Nigeria\u2019s South-east, are to receive two bags of 5kg rice and N10,000 each as \u201cChristmas gifts\u201d from the state government, a senior government official has said.<\/p>\n<p>The Secretary to the Ebonyi State Government (SSG), Kenneth Ugbala, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Abakaliki said the N10,000 cash would be paid into the salary account of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/01\/breaking-unvaccinated-civil-servants-denied-access-to-federal-secretariat-abuja\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">workers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Ugbala said the state governor, David Umahi, has approved the distribution of the cash and the bags of rice.<\/p>\n<p>Local government workers, as well as students of higher institutions in the state, are to benefit from the government\u2019s largesse, according to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).<\/p>\n<p>Mr Ugbala said the governor\u2019s approval was in line with his \u201cusual magnanimity\u201d as \u201cthe father of the state\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll civil servants and pensioners in Ebonyi are to receive two bags of 5kg rice and N10, 000 to be paid into their salary accounts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll Local Government Area staff are to receive two bags of 5kg rice, tins of tomatoes, and N5, 000 to be paid into their salary accounts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll federal government-owned ministries, departments, and agencies in the state have been given Christmas palliatives through their leaders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStaff and students of both federal and state-owned tertiary institutions have also been given Christmas palliatives through their leaders,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>The SSG thanked Mr Umahi for his \u201cgenerosity for the people\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Civil servants, including pensioners, in Ebonyi State, Nigeria\u2019s South-east, are to receive two bags of 5kg rice and N10,000 each as \u201cChristmas gifts\u201d from the state government, a senior government official has said.
