{"id":122142,"date":"2021-12-17T10:02:35","date_gmt":"2021-12-17T09:02:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=122142"},"modified":"2021-12-17T10:02:35","modified_gmt":"2021-12-17T09:02:35","slug":"fct-crushes-over-1000-seized-motorcycles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/17\/fct-crushes-over-1000-seized-motorcycles\/","title":{"rendered":"FCT crushes over 1,000 seized motorcycles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Head of the directorate of the road traffic services of the federal capital territory (FCT), Wadata Bodinga has disclosed that the agency has destroyed over 1,400 confiscated motorcycles.<\/p>\n<p>This was disclosed on Thursday by Bodinga while speaking during the crushing exercise.<\/p>\n<p>Bodinga said the motorcycles were seized from commercial operators between January and June.<\/p>\n<p>According to NAN, the FCT director said there are ongoing court processes involving 600 more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/20\/photos-police-crush-482-motorcycles-impounded-from-traffic-offenders-in-lagos\/\">motorcycles<\/a> which would be destroyed after they are forfeited.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have begun the crushing of seized motorcycles that have been duly forfeited by the court of law,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are about 1,500 of them crushed as there are about 600 motorcycles that are undergoing the process of forfeiture. We would also follow the same procedure with these ones.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe this would serve as a deterrent to people who have refused to follow the rules guiding the operation of motorcycles in the FCT.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during the exercise, Babaji Sunday, FCT commissioner of police, alleged that the motorcycles are used by individuals to perpetrate crime in the city.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese motorcycles are being used to commit most of the crimes, especially kidnapping and banditry, even within the city centre.
