{"id":122426,"date":"2021-12-18T03:57:51","date_gmt":"2021-12-18T02:57:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=122426"},"modified":"2021-12-18T03:57:51","modified_gmt":"2021-12-18T02:57:51","slug":"efcc-arrests-ibadan-socialite-for-alleged-n25m-fraud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/18\/efcc-arrests-ibadan-socialite-for-alleged-n25m-fraud\/","title":{"rendered":"EFCC arrests Ibadan socialite for alleged N25m fraud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ibadan-based socialite, Ajayi Oluwabukola Temitope has been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for allegedly obtaining money to the tune of N24, 955, 000 by false pretence.<\/p>\n<p>The EFCC\u2019s spokesman, Wilson Uwajaren, who disclosed this in a statement said Temitope was arrested following a series of petitions.<\/p>\n<p>Uwajaren said the 42-year-old suspect <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/24\/hackers-jailed-for-3-years-for-defrauding-klm-british-turkish-airlines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">defrauded<\/a> her victims by claiming to be a registered dealer with soft drinks manufacturers in Ibadan, Oyo State and \u201cpromised to supply products to complainants but failed after collecting money from them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ajayi, according to the petition, \u201cpromised to supply a truckload of carbonated soft drinks worth N17, 375,000 from Ibadan to Mabera Trading Company and Altine Musa in Sokoto but failed to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the same vein, \u201cshe also allegedly promised to supply soft drinks worth N7, 580,000 (Seven Million Five Hundred and Eighty Thousand Naira) to one Bashiru Musa, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/16\/bandits-kill-businessman-kidnap-his-three-children-in-zaria\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">businessman<\/a> based in Sokoto and Ibadan but never did.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Uwajaren further disclosed that the suspect would be charged to court after the commission completes its investigation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ibadan-based socialite, Ajayi Oluwabukola Temitope has been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for allegedly obtaining money to the tune of N24, 955, 000 by false pretence.
