{"id":126123,"date":"2021-12-27T10:58:18","date_gmt":"2021-12-27T09:58:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=126123"},"modified":"2021-12-27T10:58:18","modified_gmt":"2021-12-27T09:58:18","slug":"boxer-danny-kelly-jr-is-shot-dead-in-front-of-his-girlfriend-and-three-young-children-on-christmas-eve","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/27\/boxer-danny-kelly-jr-is-shot-dead-in-front-of-his-girlfriend-and-three-young-children-on-christmas-eve\/","title":{"rendered":"Boxer Danny Kelly Jr. is shot dead in front of his girlfriend and three young children on Christmas Eve"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former professional boxer, Danny Kelly Jr. has been killed in front of his girlfriend and three kids in a road rage shooting on Christmas Eve, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>The boxer was shot dead as he drove his girlfriend and three kids to visit family on Christmas Eve.<\/p>\n<p>The 30-year-old was driving a pickup truck along\u00a0St. Barnabas Road in Temple Hills, Maryland, about 4:40 pm when another vehicle pulled up alongside him and someone inside it opened fire,\u00a0Maryland\u00a0police say.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly was pronounced dead at a local hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Prince George\u00a0County police said they&#8217;re investigating road rage as a possible factor as they search for the gunman.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is an absolutely heartbreaking loss for Mr. Kelly&#8217;s family and friends,&#8217; major crimes acting Major David Blazer said December 25.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He is not home with his loved ones today on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/25\/another-fatal-crash-claims-six-travellers-on-christmas-day-in-ogun\/\">Christmas<\/a> who are now mourning his loss instead of celebrating the holiday.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Kelly, who went by the ring alias Danny &#8220;Smooth&#8221;, fought as a heavyweight in professional boxing from 2012 to 2019, according to the\u00a0boxrec.com.
