{"id":127740,"date":"2021-12-31T11:39:14","date_gmt":"2021-12-31T10:39:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=127740"},"modified":"2021-12-31T11:39:14","modified_gmt":"2021-12-31T10:39:14","slug":"lagos-nine-injured-as-truck-crushes-vehicles-at-otedola-bridge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/31\/lagos-nine-injured-as-truck-crushes-vehicles-at-otedola-bridge\/","title":{"rendered":"Lagos: Nine injured as truck crushes vehicles at Otedola Bridge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nine persons were injured when a tanker crushed five vehicles at the Otedola Bridge outward Lagos on Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p>According to The PUNCH, the Lagos Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Olusegun Ogungbemide, who confirmed the incident said the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/31\/one-crushed-to-death-in-osun-multiple-auto-crash\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">crash<\/a> occurred at 10:40pm on Thursday while the vehicles were trying to connect the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.<\/p>\n<p>He said though no life was lost, the injured victims were immediately taken to Emergency Centre Ojota while others were taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital in Ikeja.<\/p>\n<p>Ogungbemide noted that the cause of the crash was yet to be known as of the time of filing this report, adding that the driver of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/30\/man-dies-in-fuel-tanker-compartment-in-kano\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tanker<\/a> fled the scene before a team of emergency responders including the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Lagos Fire Service, Lagos State Police Command commenced rescue operations.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/19\/40-feet-container-crushes-2-vehicles-kills-1-on-otedola-bridge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Otedola Bridge<\/a> is notorious for road crashes mostly involving fuel-laden tankers and trucks that often explode, resulting in inferno, burnt vehicles, loss of lives and properties.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nine persons were injured when a tanker crushed five vehicles at the Otedola Bridge outward Lagos on Thursday night.
