{"id":127852,"date":"2021-12-31T17:42:37","date_gmt":"2021-12-31T16:42:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=127852"},"modified":"2021-12-31T17:42:37","modified_gmt":"2021-12-31T16:42:37","slug":"gov-ikpeazu-signs-abia-2022-appropriation-bill-into-law","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/31\/gov-ikpeazu-signs-abia-2022-appropriation-bill-into-law\/","title":{"rendered":"Gov Ikpeazu signs Abia 2022 appropriation bill into law"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, on Friday, signed the 2022 appropriation bill of N147.28 billion into law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith this, Abia State has sustained the January to December budget cycle and this budget becomes effective on January 1, 2022,\u201d Mr Ikpeazu said, according to a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) by the governor\u2019s spokesperson, Onyebuchi Ememanka in Umuahia.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/25\/ikpeazu-releases-n3-5bn-to-workers-pensioners-for-christmas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">governor<\/a> commended the Speaker and members of the state House of Assembly for their \u201ccommitment as well as expeditious review and passage of the 2022 appropriation bill\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Ikpeazu assured the assembly and the people of Abia of effective implementation of the budget for the peace, order and welfare of the people of Abia.<\/p>\n<p>He urged ministries, departments and agencies with specific obligations that would facilitate the successful implementation of the budget to discharge their duties with seriousness.<\/p>\n<p>The governor called on revenue-earning agencies in the state to redouble their efforts in discharging their duties with greater transparency and a deeper sense of patriotism.<\/p>\n<p>The budget has a capital expenditure of N79.78 billion, while the recurrent expenditure has an outlay of N67.50 billion.<\/p>\n<p>The governor had on December 14 presented a 2022 budget of N147.79 billion to the state House of Assembly.
