{"id":128255,"date":"2022-01-01T18:40:06","date_gmt":"2022-01-01T17:40:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=128255"},"modified":"2022-01-01T18:40:06","modified_gmt":"2022-01-01T17:40:06","slug":"new-year-four-dead-many-injured-in-two-auto-crashes-in-ebonyi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/01\/new-year-four-dead-many-injured-in-two-auto-crashes-in-ebonyi\/","title":{"rendered":"New Year: Four dead, many injured in two auto crashes in Ebonyi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>No fewer than four persons died while several others were injured on New Year Day in two separate ghastly auto accidents along the Abakaliki-Enugu expressway in Ebonyi state.<\/p>\n<p>According to News Agency of Nigeria, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Anthony Okore, Ebonyi Command said the accidents occurred in separate spots along the road.<\/p>\n<p>Okore explained that the first accident involving a Toyota Sienna collided with an articulated vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/26\/tragedy-as-mother-two-daughters-die-in-sagamu-benin-highway-accident\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accident<\/a> happened in two locations, Ezzamgbo and Nkalagu axis of the road in Ohaukwu and Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first involved a tanker coming from Abakaliki to Enugu and a Sienna vehicle coming from Lagos to Abakaliki. The tanker number plate is ENU 282 XT while the Siena number is KPU 537 YE.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/30\/man-dies-in-fuel-tanker-compartment-in-kano\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tanker<\/a> was trying to avoid a pothole and unfortunately swapped and hit two commercial motorcycles (Okada). Two persons died from the motorcycle incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo persons also died from the Toyota Sienna, making a total of four deaths. Some others who received various injuries were taken to the hospital,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>On the second accident, Okore said it involved a truck loaded with garri (food items) which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/10\/12\/driver-18-passengers-escape-death-as-commercial-bus-somersaults-in-ogun\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">somersaulted<\/a> on the road.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe truck capsized, but no life was lost in that particular incident. The truck capsized and blocked the road.
