{"id":128997,"date":"2022-01-03T12:51:32","date_gmt":"2022-01-03T11:51:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=128997"},"modified":"2022-01-03T12:51:32","modified_gmt":"2022-01-03T11:51:32","slug":"how-olubadan-of-ibadan-died-uch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/03\/how-olubadan-of-ibadan-died-uch\/","title":{"rendered":"How Olubadan of Ibadan died \u2013 UCH"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The University College Hospital, Ibadan has narrated how the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, died at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The hospital in a statement by its Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations Officer, Toye Akinrinola, said the monarch was referred to UCH from a private hospital in Ibadan about 9.30 pm on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Akinrinola disclosed that the Chief Medical Director CMD, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, immediately directed a high-powered medical team to provide medical treatment to the late monarch, who died at 01.15 am on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The CMD also wrote to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, to inform him of Olubadan\u2019s death.<\/p>\n<p>WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that the late <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/02\/breaking-olubadan-of-ibadanland-passes-away\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Olubadan of Ibadanland joined his ancestors<\/a> on Sunday\u00a0 at the age of 93.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-129008 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/01\/kunlenet07\/2022\/01\/03\/UCH-letter.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"1133\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/01\/kunlenet07\/2022\/01\/03\/UCH-letter.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/01\/kunlenet07\/2022\/01\/03\/UCH-letter-212x300.jpg 212w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/01\/kunlenet07\/2022\/01\/03\/UCH-letter-723x1024.jpg 723w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/01\/kunlenet07\/2022\/01\/03\/UCH-letter-768x1088.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The statement read in part, \u201cThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/02\/breaking-olubadan-laid-to-rest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Olubadan<\/a> of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Oguguniso 1, on January 2, 2022, passed on at the Intensive Care Unit of the University College Hospital, Ibadan at 1.15 am.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe late Monarch was referred to the UCH from a private hospital in Ibadan at about 9.30 pm yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was immediately admitted at the ICU where the Chief Medical Director CMD, Professor Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo directed that a high-powered medical team be constituted to provide the best medical treatment to him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy 1.15 am today, His Imperial Majesty breathed his last breath.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe CMD was at the ICU in the early hours of today to pay the late Olubadan his last respect.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfterward, the CMD wrote a letter of notification of the demise of the revered Monarch to His Excellency Governor Seyi <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/21\/makinde-mourns-oyo-monarch-asigangan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Makinde<\/a> of Oyo State which was received by the Permanent Secretary of the Oyo State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Dr. Bashiru Olanrewaju on behalf of the Oyo State Government. A similar letter was written to the Family of the departed Olubadan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe CMD further ensured that the remains of the late Monarch were taken care of in a manner befitting to the late Olubadan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProfessor Otegbayo also escorted the corpse of Oba Adetunji from the ICU to a waiting ambulance and handed the corpse to the family and other dignitaries on the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The University College Hospital, Ibadan has narrated how the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, died at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital on Sunday.
