{"id":129028,"date":"2022-01-03T13:43:45","date_gmt":"2022-01-03T12:43:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=129028"},"modified":"2022-01-03T13:43:45","modified_gmt":"2022-01-03T12:43:45","slug":"cbn-will-improve-access-to-finance-credit-for-households-smes-in-2022-emefiele","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/03\/cbn-will-improve-access-to-finance-credit-for-households-smes-in-2022-emefiele\/","title":{"rendered":"CBN will improve access to finance, credit for households, SMEs in 2022 &#8211; Emefiele"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has disclosed that it will improve access to finance and credit for households, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>This was made known by the CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele at an<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0event held recently in Lagos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He emphasised the need for all stakeholders to build a more resilient economy that would contain external shocks while supporting growth and wealth creation in key sectors of the economy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThe policy focus of the bank for 2022 is with a pledge to sustain improved access to finance and credit for households and businesses, mobilise investment to boost domestic productivity, enable faster growth of non-oil exports, and support employment generating activities,\u201d Emefiele said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The CBN governor stated that one of the vital lessons learned from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/03\/covid-19-nigeria-records-573-fresh-infections-in-7-states\/\">COVID-19<\/a> outbreak was the need to make conscious measures to diversify Nigeria\u2019s economic base.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He said the country must do all necessary to decrease the importation of goods.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cProactive steps on the part of stakeholders in the private sector, in collaboration with the government in supporting the growth of sectors such as manufacturing, ICT, and infrastructure, will strengthen our ability to deal with the challenges of COVID-19 and stimulate further growth of our economy,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Speaking about the importance of creating an efficient infrastructure ecosystem in Nigeria, he disclosed that all necessary approvals had been obtained for the Infrastructure Corporation of Nigeria (InfraCo) to begin operations in early 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Last month, Emefiele said the federal government would toll the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Abuja-Kano road and the second Niger Bridge to repay loans used to fund the project.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has disclosed that it will improve access to finance and credit for households, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in 2022.
