{"id":133065,"date":"2022-01-11T20:23:36","date_gmt":"2022-01-11T19:23:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=133065"},"modified":"2022-01-11T20:24:04","modified_gmt":"2022-01-11T19:24:04","slug":"fg-committed-to-ending-epileptic-power-supply-power-minister","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/11\/fg-committed-to-ending-epileptic-power-supply-power-minister\/","title":{"rendered":"FG committed to ending epileptic power supply &#8211; Power minister"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Minister of power, Abubakar Aliyu has disclosed that the federal government is working to end the epileptic power supply in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>This was stated on Tuesday by Aliyu in<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0Markudi when he paid a courtesy visit to Samuel Ortom, governor of Benue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Aliyu said that the ministry is constructing a 40 megawatts (MW) electricity plant from Kashimbila, Taraba, to Yandev in Benue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThe project is in two phases; phase one is from Kashimbila to Yandev, and phase two is from Yandev to Makurdi,\u201d NAN quoted him as saying.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cPhase one is completed while phase two will be completed within six months.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Aliyu also said that the ministry was constructing switching substations in Ugba, Zaki Biam, Buruku and Anyiin \u2014 all in Benue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cPower is one of the areas that the federal government is giving much attention to,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In his remarks, Ortom commended the federal government but said there is more work to be done to improve the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/25\/tcn-restores-power-supply-to-some-areas-affected-by-330kv-line-collapse-in-lagos\/\"> power supply<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Ortom appealed to the minister to talk to Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) to assist people with transformers and not just collect bill payments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThough it is not my responsibility to provide transformers for the company, I have provided over 200 transformers to them to install in settlements that are expanding,\u201d the governor said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Recently, the minister said lack of attention on the<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0power sector by past leaders responsible for erratic supply.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Minister of power, Abubakar Aliyu has disclosed that the federal government is working to end the epileptic power supply in Nigeria.
