{"id":133164,"date":"2022-01-12T00:22:02","date_gmt":"2022-01-11T23:22:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=133164"},"modified":"2022-01-12T00:22:02","modified_gmt":"2022-01-11T23:22:02","slug":"delivery-companies-groan-over-clampdown-on-motorbikes-in-rivers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/12\/delivery-companies-groan-over-clampdown-on-motorbikes-in-rivers\/","title":{"rendered":"Delivery companies groan over clampdown on motorbikes in Rivers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The State Taskforce on Illegal Street Trading has clamped down on their dispatch riders, causing logistics firms in Rivers to grumble.<\/p>\n<p>On Governor Nyesom Wike&#8217;s directives, the Task Force has stepped up its crackdown on street merchants, commercial motorcyclists, and sellers selling under umbrellas in recent days.<\/p>\n<p>According to an investigation, logistic enterprises that rely on motorbikes to carry products and services to their clients in Rivers State were among those most impacted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/26\/popular-pastor-bakare-criticises-clampdown-on-agitators\/\">crackdown<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It was gathered that barely 24 hours after the ban on the use of motorcycles by Governor Wike in a statewide broadcast, the Taskforce on illegal Street Trading started a clampdown on motorbikers, including those being used by private delivery companies.<\/p>\n<p>One of those who rely on the delivery companies lamented that she had to use a friend\u2019s car to move her products from one delivery point to another to meet the demand of her customers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBusinesses in Port Harcourt are really suffering because of this ban. Many deals are being put on hold<br \/>\nLet\u2019s pray and hope that Governor Wike addresses this issue again.
