{"id":135162,"date":"2022-01-16T08:12:50","date_gmt":"2022-01-16T07:12:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=135162"},"modified":"2022-01-16T08:12:50","modified_gmt":"2022-01-16T07:12:50","slug":"baba-ahmed-to-northerners-buhari-disappointed-us","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/16\/baba-ahmed-to-northerners-buhari-disappointed-us\/","title":{"rendered":"Baba-Ahmed to Northerners: Buhari disappointed us"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari is a &#8220;disappointment&#8221; to the north.<\/p>\n<p>This was made known by Baba-Ahmed on Saturday while speaking with journalists in Kaduna on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Baba-Ahmed said Buhari promised to secure the country and grow the economy but he has failed to do so.<\/p>\n<p>The NEF spokesman advised the north to vote for the best among the available candidates in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNortherners were told that if Buhari becomes president, the country would be secured; he will fight <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/13\/umahi-vows-to-fight-corruption-if-elected-president\/\">corruption<\/a>; the economy will improve. But now, we are worse. This is not propaganda; it is not fiction. It is a fact on the ground,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMillions of internally-displaced people (IDP) camp in the north-west, where Buhari comes from as a result of the deadly activities of bandits, but the government is refusing to admit it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are refusing to accommodate this view and consider the fact that we have IDPs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not the Nigeria that we voted [to have under] President Buhari, so he is a disappointment and that is why we are calling on Nigerians, particularly, northerners, to be very careful; don\u2019t repeat the same mistake again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChoose a northerner if you want, but please make sure he is the best among those that are available, including candidates from the south.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari is a &#8220;disappointment&#8221; to the north.
