{"id":135522,"date":"2022-01-17T05:27:24","date_gmt":"2022-01-17T04:27:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=135522"},"modified":"2022-01-17T05:27:24","modified_gmt":"2022-01-17T04:27:24","slug":"police-investigate-dpo-who-allegedly-owns-illegal-refinery-in-rivers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/17\/police-investigate-dpo-who-allegedly-owns-illegal-refinery-in-rivers\/","title":{"rendered":"Police investigate DPO who allegedly owns illegal refinery in Rivers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Rivers State Police Command has set up a panel to investigate a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) who is alleged to own an illegal refinery in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The Acting State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Grace Iringe-Koko, who disclosed this in a statement released on Sunday, January 16, said the unnamed DPO has been \u201cimmediately redeployed and a panel headed by an assistant commissioner of police inaugurated to investigate the matter\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement, the outcome of the investigation shall be made public and the officer will be punished appropriately if the allegations are confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that Governor Nyesom Wike had raised the alarm this week and demanded that the DPO, who was in charge of a division in a community called Rumuji in the Emohua Local Government Area, be redeployed for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/15\/photos-wike-names-police-dpo-other-vip-illegal-refiners-in-rivers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">allegedly operating one of the illegal oil wells<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The governor, who is concerned about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/08\/black-soot-governor-nyesom-wike-orders-arrest-of-illegal-refinery-operators\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">soot<\/a> pollution in the state named the DPO in Emohua Local Government Area as one of the operators of illegal refineries in the area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s unfortunate for this country how security people will be involved in illegal bunkering. I can\u2019t believe it. Mr. CP, I thank you for transferring the DPO in Rumuji, who owns a refinery. But the man must leave here, not transferred. He must leave this state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t be governor here and security man owns an illegal refinery. No, it is not possible, the man has to go.
