{"id":136319,"date":"2022-01-18T15:02:12","date_gmt":"2022-01-18T14:02:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=136319"},"modified":"2022-01-18T15:02:12","modified_gmt":"2022-01-18T14:02:12","slug":"judge-orders-dss-to-give-nnamdi-kanu-change-of-clothes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/18\/judge-orders-dss-to-give-nnamdi-kanu-change-of-clothes\/","title":{"rendered":"Judge orders DSS to give Nnamdi Kanu change of clothes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, has been granted permission to change his clothes by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>Kanu, who is facing terrorist and treasonable criminal accusations, was arraigned in court on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>His primary attorney, Mike Ozekhome, SAN, brought the Judge&#8217;s attention to the treatment his client was receiving in DSS care.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/11\/nnamdi-kanus-trial-i-escaped-being-lynched-ejiofor-reveals\/\">Kanu<\/a> was still being held in solitary confinement and that detainees who greeted him were likewise subjected to the same treatment.<\/p>\n<p>This is despite an order by Justice Nyako for the DSS to allow the IPOB leader to practice his faith, have his bath, change his clothes and eat properly.<\/p>\n<p>In response, Nyako reiterated her earlier order for the DSS to allow Kanu to enjoy some comfort. She, however, reminded his counsel that a detention facility is not a five-star hotel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want to see him in these clothes again. This one is almost off-white.
