{"id":13852,"date":"2021-03-26T20:50:52","date_gmt":"2021-03-26T19:50:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=13852"},"modified":"2021-03-26T20:50:52","modified_gmt":"2021-03-26T19:50:52","slug":"weve-embarked-on-massive-rehabilitation-of-our-decayed-infrastructure-says-rotimi-amaechi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/26\/weve-embarked-on-massive-rehabilitation-of-our-decayed-infrastructure-says-rotimi-amaechi\/","title":{"rendered":"We&#8217;ve embarked on massive rehabilitation of our decayed infrastructure, says Rotimi Amaechi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rotimi Amaechi, the Honorable Minister of Transportation has stated that\u00a0there&#8217;s been a massive rehabilitation of Nigeria&#8217;s infrastructure by the Buhari-led administration.<\/p>\n<p>This statement was made by the transportation minister while speaking at the 34th convocation lecture of the University of Calabar as guest lecturer.<\/p>\n<p>The transportation minister reiterated President Buhari\u2019s commitment to revamping the nation\u2019s agricultural sector.<\/p>\n<p>Amaechi noting that dams and irrigation works are being undertaken to improve the availability of water to farms to aid food production.<\/p>\n<p>Amaechi said;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-transform: initial\">\u201cThe Buhari administration has embarked on massive rehabilitation of our decayed national <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/25\/miyetti-allah-condemns-governors-for-bandit-attacks-says-they-destroyed-their-businesses\/\">infrastructure<\/a> in the last five years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThroughout the federation, major highways are being rehabilitated and new ones built. Critical bridges are being built to link major ethnic-economic nerve centres.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Minister who also disclosed that President Buhari inherited a contract of over $10 billion to construct the rail project which will terminate in Calabar, said the project will commence before the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>He added;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-transform: initial\">\u201cThe President inherited a contract of $11.1 billion to construct a railway from Lagos to terminate at Calabar.
