{"id":140147,"date":"2022-01-26T18:21:55","date_gmt":"2022-01-26T17:21:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=140147"},"modified":"2022-01-26T18:21:55","modified_gmt":"2022-01-26T17:21:55","slug":"we-have-acquired-three-additional-trains-for-blue-line-rail-project-says-sanwo-olu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/26\/we-have-acquired-three-additional-trains-for-blue-line-rail-project-says-sanwo-olu\/","title":{"rendered":"We have acquired three additional trains for blue line rail project, says Sanwo-Olu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has disclosed that the state government has acquired three new trains for the blue line rail project.<\/p>\n<p>This was disclosed by Sanwo-Olu<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0at the flag-off ceremony of the construction of the Opebi\/Ojota link bridges on Wednesday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Recall that\u00a0<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Sanwo-Olu had stated that the<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0state\u2019s metro rail lines would begin operation before the end of this year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Last week, the governor had visted the<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0factory of Talgo Inc, a train manufacturer, in Milwaukee, to complete the purchase of two Series 8 trains for the red line train project in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Blue Line is designed to start from Okokomaiko and terminate at Marina, while the Red Line runs from Agbado to Marina.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The second phase will serve Murtala Muhammed International <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/26\/breaking-protest-at-abuja-airport-as-dana-air-delays-flight-for-7-hours\/\">Airport<\/a> in Lagos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The governor said the newly-acquired trains would be unveiled at the appropriate time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cI stand here very humbly that just last week and everybody has reported it, we were able to close the deal on the acquisition of a 10-coach, 10-train intracity rail from Taglo in Milwaukee, the United States. This is for the red line project,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cBut, what we have not announced is not just for the red line. We have actually acquired three sets of trains for the blue line as well.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cWe will be unveiling that when it also comes in.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cWe\u2019ve done all of these things very quietly, but we don\u2019t want to talk much.
