{"id":140941,"date":"2022-01-28T13:24:57","date_gmt":"2022-01-28T12:24:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=140941"},"modified":"2022-01-28T13:38:10","modified_gmt":"2022-01-28T12:38:10","slug":"court-grants-popular-aphrodisiac-seller-jaruma-bail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/28\/court-grants-popular-aphrodisiac-seller-jaruma-bail\/","title":{"rendered":"Court grants popular aphrodisiac seller, Jaruma bail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aphrodisiac seller identified as Hauwa Muhammed better known as Jaruma has been granted bail.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that\u00a0Jaruma was arraigned before an Upper Area Court in the Zuba area of Abuja on Monday for alleged defamation of character, false news publication and intimidation of business tycoon, Ned Nwoko, on social media.<\/p>\n<p>Nwoko had accused Jaruma of publishing falsehoods on her Instagram page against him and his wife, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/04\/01\/christianity-does-not-allow-more-than-one-wife-yet-average-southerner-has-10-girlfriends-ned-nwoko\/\">Regina Daniels<\/a>, who is an actress.<\/p>\n<p>The judge, Ismaila Abdullahi, on Monday ruled that she should be remanded in the Suleja Correctional Centre pending the bail hearing on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Juruma arrived at the court premises in a black veil around 11:20am.<\/p>\n<p>Ruling on her bail application, Abdullahi said her remand should not be seen as a punishment to the defendant.<\/p>\n<p>He, however, warned all parties involved in the matter to refrain from actions that could be considered prejudicial to the case.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cThe court did not remand her in custody as a punitive means to penalise the defendant but to make her present and answer to her case. By this, I shall be quick to point out that the charge against the defendant is bailable but not ordinary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hereby grant her bail on the following conditions: That the surety must be a level 12 civil servant working within the FCT.
