{"id":141696,"date":"2022-01-30T07:45:04","date_gmt":"2022-01-30T06:45:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=141696"},"modified":"2022-01-30T10:06:05","modified_gmt":"2022-01-30T09:06:05","slug":"our-children-begged-i-allow-my-husband-have-sex-with-me-so-he-wont-beat-me-to-death-divorce-seeking-wife","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/30\/our-children-begged-i-allow-my-husband-have-sex-with-me-so-he-wont-beat-me-to-death-divorce-seeking-wife\/","title":{"rendered":"Our children beg me to allow my husband have sex with me so he won&#8217;t beat me to death &#8211; Divorce-seeking wife"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Divorce-seeking woman, Mrs Olamide Lawal, has told a Grade \u2018A\u2019 Customary Court Mapo, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, that her husband, Saheed Lawal got drunk all the time and would beat her blue black when he wanted to have sex with her.<\/p>\n<p>Olamide, who explained that Saheed always came to her shop to destroy her goods, requested that the court restrain him from coming to fight and destroy her property both in her house and shop.<\/p>\n<p>According to Tribune; she asked the court to make her husband responsible for the upkeep of their children whom she said he had always neglected.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant admitted to his wife\u2019s claim but prayed the court not to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/10\/13\/my-wife-now-public-tap-where-all-men-fetch-water-man-begs-ibadan-court-to-dissolve-marriage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dissolve<\/a> their union.<\/p>\n<p>Olamide said; \u201cSaheed has a caustic tongue. He abuses me anytime he calls me on the phone. Not done, he will rain curses on me,\u201d Olamide said while giving her testimony.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy husband failed in his responsibility towards me and our children. He never gave us feeding allowance nor cared about our children\u2019s education. He passed the buck of his responsibility to me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI worked round the clock to put food on the table and also gave our children transport fare five times in a week to go to school<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut all I got as reward was his maltreatment of me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSaheed is a drunk. He spent his income on alcohol. He returned home drunk every night and would drag me out of bed and beat me to a pulp.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe sent me out of the house into cold on many occasions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe almost fought every night because he would come demanding for sex which I always refused him. I was not happy having sex with him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur children always appealled to me to have sex with him so that he would not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/24\/married-man-allegedly-beats-strangles-38-year-old-lover-to-death-in-ondo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">beat<\/a> me to death.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy lord, we lived in eight different houses in the 13 years we lived together because our landlord always sent us packing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSaheed loses his senses when drunk. He has no respect for anyone when in this state which was why he was always at loggerheads with our landlords and neighbours.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI moved out of his house more than two years ago because of the way he was maltreating me, but he would always come to my shop to fight me and destroy my goods.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI reported him at the police station because he refused to stop embarrassing me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was asked to write an undertaking never to harass, fight or destroy my wares.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe did but still failed to change.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has not stopped abusing and raining curses on me on the phone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy lord, I beg this honourable court, apart from dissolving our marriage to make him responsible for the upkeep and education of our children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI also appeal to the court to stop him from coming to my house and shop to fight and destroy my goods.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Saheed while pleading his case said, \u201cI beseech this honourable court to help me appeal to my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/29\/real-estate-agent-dies-in-ogun-hotel-after-sex-with-ex-wife\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wife<\/a> not to divorce me. If she does our children will suffer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He further stated that, \u201cIt is true I drink, but I have stopped doing that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have also stopped beating her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut if her mind is made up on leaving me, I pray the court to grant me custody of our first child who is a male and 141\/2 years old.
