{"id":141748,"date":"2022-01-30T10:15:44","date_gmt":"2022-01-30T09:15:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=141748"},"modified":"2022-01-30T10:15:44","modified_gmt":"2022-01-30T09:15:44","slug":"he-wrote-me-he-was-no-longer-interested-in-our-marriage-locked-me-our-ss-baby-out-wife","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/30\/he-wrote-me-he-was-no-longer-interested-in-our-marriage-locked-me-our-ss-baby-out-wife\/","title":{"rendered":"He wrote me he was no longer interested in our marriage, locked me, our \u2018SS\u2019 baby out &#8211; Wife"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A married woman, Mujidat Rafiu, has asked a Grade \u2018A\u2019 Customary Court Mapo, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, to dissolve her marriage to her husband, Saheed Rafiu, as he has refused her to have rest of mind since they got married.<\/p>\n<p>Mujidat said her husband wrote her a letter that he was no longer interested in the marriage, locked her and their \u2018SS\u2019 baby out.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/30\/our-children-begged-i-allow-my-husband-have-sex-with-me-so-he-wont-beat-me-to-death-divorce-seeking-wife\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">divorce-seeking wife<\/a> asked the court to mandate her husband to be responsible for their children\u2019s school fees and feeding.<\/p>\n<p>She further appealed to the court to restrain him from coming to threaten or harass her at her place of abode or work place.<\/p>\n<p>Saheed, who agreed that their union be dissolved, said his wife is \u2018AS\u2019, but told him she was \u2018AA\u2019 when they met, which resulted in them having an &#8216;SS&#8217; baby.<\/p>\n<p>Providing evidences for the divorce case, Mujidat told the court that, \u201cMy lord, I\u2019ve known no peace since I got married to my<a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/30\/my-wife-beats-me-poisoned-my-food-twice-husband-tells-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> husband<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI never knew I was trading off my joy as we were carrying out our marriage rites in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRafiu completely changed after we got married. He made life difficult for me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was never pleased with all that I did and this always ended in heated arguments between us.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe once locked me and our second child out and left us in the cold. Our baby was a few months old then.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSaheed changed the keys to the door of our apartment and refused that I came in. It took the intervention of our neighbours before he was appeased.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy lord, on November 26, 2020, my husband wrote me a letter informing me that he was no longer interested in our marriage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was shocked when I saw the letter and showed it to my father in-law who promised to talk to him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI moved out of Saheed\u2019s house in December 2020 with our two children and moved in with my mother after he made our marriage hellish and our home non conducive for me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSaheed refused to let me be after this. He comes to my shop to fight me and will threaten to close down my business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe once accosted me on the road and attempted to take our children from me by force.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy lord, our children are still young. Our second child is one year and nine months old. He is a sickle cell patient and in my mother\u2019s care.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want my husband to leave our children with me till they are mature. I have been responsible for their upkeep and education since I left him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI also pray the court to restrain him from coming to threaten or harass me in my shop, \u201cthe plaintiff pleaded.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to his wife\u2019s evidence, Saheed told the court that: \u201cMujidat was stubborn and always insisted on having her way. She called off my bluff almost all the time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy wife accused my mother of killing our first child and refused that anybody other than her family members touch our other children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis brought a strain in the relationship between my family and hers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy lord, Mudijat told me when we met that she was \u2018AA\u2019 and I believed her. I discovered she was \u2018AS\u2019 after we had our second who is \u2018SS\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are not sure of our first child\u2019s genotype because we are yet to go for the test,\u201d the defendant said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that: \u201cI warned Mujidat against associating with some specific people in our neighbourhood but she refused to stick to my instructions. I caught her in these people\u2019s company at four different occasions and was mad with her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe woke up one day and decided she was moving out of my house.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe left with our children and has since been denying me access to them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMudijat discouraged our children from taking things from me whenever I checked on them in school.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe both pay their fees but they have not returned to school this term. I don\u2019t know if she has changed their school,\u201d the defendant stated.<\/p>\n<p>After she had heard both parties, the court president, Mrs S.
