{"id":142251,"date":"2022-01-31T15:14:25","date_gmt":"2022-01-31T14:14:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=142251"},"modified":"2022-01-31T15:14:25","modified_gmt":"2022-01-31T14:14:25","slug":"visually-impaired-man-allegedly-burnt-to-death-by-his-brother-over-piece-of-land-in-anambra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/31\/visually-impaired-man-allegedly-burnt-to-death-by-his-brother-over-piece-of-land-in-anambra\/","title":{"rendered":"Visually impaired man allegedly burnt to death by his brother over piece of land in Anambra"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A visually impaired man, Mmaduabuchi Nnofu, has allegedly been killed and burnt to death by his younger brother, Onyedika Nnofu over ownership of a piece of land in Anambra state.<\/p>\n<p>The incident was said to have occurred on Sunday, January 30th, 2022, at Eziagulu village, Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area of the state.<\/p>\n<p>Mmaduabuchi was the Coordinator of Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, JONAPWD, Aguata branch.<\/p>\n<p>According to Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), a source who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the prime suspect, Onyedika whom he described as someone who never heeds to advice, has been in conflict for long with Mmaduabuchi his brother, over a piece of land, and has on several occasions, threatened to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/31\/suspected-herdsmen-gang-rape-kill-housewife-in-ondo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kill<\/a> the victim if he does not steer clear.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-142259 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/01\/kunlenet07\/2022\/01\/31\/Onyedika-Nnofu-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"1265\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/01\/kunlenet07\/2022\/01\/31\/Onyedika-Nnofu-2.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/01\/kunlenet07\/2022\/01\/31\/Onyedika-Nnofu-2-190x300.jpg 190w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/01\/kunlenet07\/2022\/01\/31\/Onyedika-Nnofu-2-648x1024.jpg 648w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/01\/kunlenet07\/2022\/01\/31\/Onyedika-Nnofu-2-768x1214.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The source stated that it was at about twelve noon that he heard a loud shout in Nnopu&#8217;s compound, and when people gathered to know exactly what happened, it was discovered that the victim was allegedly whacked and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/25\/ogun-monarch-burnt-to-ashes-in-his-car\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">burnt<\/a> beyond recognition by the said younger brother, Onyedika.<\/p>\n<p>According to the source, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/09\/23\/bandits-angry-youths-set-sokoto-commissioners-house-ablaze-for-not-attending-security-meeting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">angry youths<\/a> of the community attempted to lynch the suspect before the intervention of the Police who rescued and took him to custody.<\/p>\n<p>The Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Disability Matters, Barrister Chuks Ezewuzie, who confirmed the incident described the victim as a vibrant leader in disability community, and a blind person who can never hurt a soul.<\/p>\n<p>Barrister Ezewuzie, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra Disability Rights Commission, said that the Office of the Governor on Disability Matters got the report and swung into action immediately, assuring to assist the family, praying that justice would prevail.<\/p>\n<p>On his part, the Coordinator of Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, Anambra State, Comrade Ugochukwu Okeke, condemned the heinous act and called on security agencies and other relevant authorities to wade into the matter as JONAPWD would not rest until justice prevails.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A visually impaired man, Mmaduabuchi Nnofu, has allegedly been killed and burnt to death by his younger brother, Onyedika Nnofu over ownership of a piece of land in Anambra state.
