{"id":142433,"date":"2022-01-31T23:32:40","date_gmt":"2022-01-31T22:32:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=142433"},"modified":"2022-01-31T23:32:40","modified_gmt":"2022-01-31T22:32:40","slug":"sofiat-how-we-got-money-ritual-guidelines-from-facebook-ogun-teenage-boys","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/31\/sofiat-how-we-got-money-ritual-guidelines-from-facebook-ogun-teenage-boys\/","title":{"rendered":"Sofiat: How we got money ritual guidelines from Facebook \u2013 Ogun teenage boys"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The four teenage boys arrested for slaughtering Sofiat Kehinde and burning her head in a money-making ritual said they got the guidelines from the popular social media platform, Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>The teenagers claimed to have been inspired by the guidelines, which they claimed informed their decision to slaughter Sofiat, who was said to be a girlfriend to one of them.<\/p>\n<p>WITHIN NIGERIA reported that the boys were caught at Oke Aregba area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, after they had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/31\/sister-of-girl-beheaded-by-her-boyfriend-and-his-friends-for-money-ritual-in-ogun-speaks\/\"><strong>beheaded Sofiat and put her head in a local pot<\/strong><\/a> for burning.<\/p>\n<p>The police at Adatan police station had arrested Wariz Oladeinde, Abdulgafar Lukman, Mustakeem Balogun, and Soliu Majekodunmi, the boyfriend of the slain girl.<\/p>\n<p>Parading the suspects on Monday at the State Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, Sofiat\u2019s boyfriend, Soliu, confessed that when the victim visited him on Friday, he strangled her and cut off her head immediately with the aid of his accomplices.<\/p>\n<p>Soliu explained how they had contributed money and purchased other ingredients needed for the ritual, while awaiting the day they would kill the lady, who he said was introduced to him in December 2021.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, Mustekeem, who used to attend the same Islamic society (Asalatu) with Sofiat, was the arrow head of the heinous act, saying he was the one who brought the guidelines from Facebook and pestered the group of friends to carryout the act so as to become rich quickly.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cLast year December, Mustakeem gave me her number that I should be dating her. The first time Sofiat came to my house, I informed Mustakeem that she was around and that she had agreed to my proposal for a relationship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe second time Sofiat came, I told him, but he told me that she is not a good girl and advised that we should use her (for money rituals).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMustakeem said he saw a guideline for \u2018Osole\u2019 (money ritual) on Facebook and he had a screenshot of it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince then, he had been disturbing me that we should use Sofiat for money ritual, but I didn\u2019t agree with him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn fact, on many occasions, I lied to Sofiat that I am not at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/06\/09\/arrest-seriki-fulanis-sons-over-threats-to-attack-us-igangan-residents-tell-security-agencies\/\">home<\/a> just to dissuade her from coming.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the process, Mustakeem had ensured that we all make contributions towards other items needed for the ritual.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, eventually, Sofiat came to my house on Friday. I was inside my room with her while Mustakeem was outside. Later Mustakeem told me that we should go ahead and use her since all other needed items for the rituals are ready.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Soliu told newsmen that he had regretted his action, urging other youths who are in a hurry to make money quickly to wait for their time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have regrets. If I knew it would end up like this I would not have gotten myself involved in the act.
