{"id":142445,"date":"2022-02-01T03:24:13","date_gmt":"2022-02-01T02:24:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=142445"},"modified":"2022-02-01T03:24:13","modified_gmt":"2022-02-01T02:24:13","slug":"newly-promoted-firs-senior-staff-hacked-to-death-by-suspected-assassins-in-lagos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/01\/newly-promoted-firs-senior-staff-hacked-to-death-by-suspected-assassins-in-lagos\/","title":{"rendered":"Newly promoted FIRS senior staff hacked to death by suspected assassins in Lagos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A senior staff of Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Mrs Ibironke Oluremi Adefila (nee Jobi), who was recently promoted was hacked to death by suspected to be assassins in the Ikorodu area of Lagos state.<\/p>\n<p>It was gathered that late Adefila was on her way to work in the early hours of Friday, January, 28, 2022 when she was accosted by the heavily armed assailants, opposite Awalu group of schools, Powerline Area in Laketu, Ikorodu.<\/p>\n<p>According to Tribune, a passersby said a voice was heard among the armed men saying, \u201cthat\u2019s her, that\u2019s her\u201d and immediately they attacked her and subsequently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/06\/lagos-bolt-driver-hacked-to-death-car-stolen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hacked her to death<\/a> on the spot with an axe, cutlass, and a knife.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-142447 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/02\/kunlenet07\/2022\/02\/01\/Ibironke-Oluremi-Adefila-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"836\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/02\/kunlenet07\/2022\/02\/01\/Ibironke-Oluremi-Adefila-3.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/02\/kunlenet07\/2022\/02\/01\/Ibironke-Oluremi-Adefila-3-287x300.jpg 287w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/02\/kunlenet07\/2022\/02\/01\/Ibironke-Oluremi-Adefila-3-768x803.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Although some good Samaritans still tried to take her to the hospital with the hope that she could survive the mindless mutilation, unfortunately, she had lost a lot of blood, having suffered heavy cuts on every part of her body including her head and spine.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on behalf of the family, Alaba Jobi said, \u201cWhat made the crime even more shocking and heartbreaking was that she was to attend a party that same day in the office which was organised to honour her having been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/10\/19\/gunmen-kill-newly-promoted-lagos-director-steal-phone-files\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">promoted<\/a> to a new level in her office.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Many have been asking the question that, \u2018what could have propelled this vicious and gruesome <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/31\/south-african-woman-sentenced-to-20-years-imprisonment-for-orchestrating-murder-of-her-son\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">murder<\/a>?\u2019&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Another surprise was that none of her personal belongings were stolen, neither were any of her body parts missing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPolice urgently need to swing into action to smoke out those behind this heinous act. The mother of five should not die in vain.
