{"id":143236,"date":"2022-02-02T12:34:50","date_gmt":"2022-02-02T11:34:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=143236"},"modified":"2022-02-02T12:34:50","modified_gmt":"2022-02-02T11:34:50","slug":"two-dead-as-fuel-tanker-explodes-on-lagos-ibadan-expressway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/02\/two-dead-as-fuel-tanker-explodes-on-lagos-ibadan-expressway\/","title":{"rendered":"Two dead as fuel tanker explodes on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two persons have been confirmed dead in a tanker explosion that occurred on Wednesday on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.<\/p>\n<p>According to News Agency of Nigeria, Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun state, Ahmed Umar, said the accident occurred about 6.05 a.m on Wednesday near CDK Company.<\/p>\n<p>Umar explained that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/29\/filling-station-razed-as-tanker-explodes-in-abia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tanker<\/a>, with no registration number and laden with Premium Motor Spirit, was inbound Lagos-Ibadan Expressway when it exploded some few kilometers after the Sagamu interchange.<\/p>\n<p>The Sector Commander said eight male adults, three vehicles, and a Bajaj motorcycle, were involved in the unfortunate incident.<\/p>\n<p>Umar said that two persons died, while six other persons came out unhurt from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/31\/photos-four-escape-death-in-terrible-accident-along-owode-ede-road\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accident<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe corpses of the dead have been deposited at Idera Morgue, Sagamu,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The FRSC boss blamed the accident on speeding on part of one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/02\/20\/truck-drivers-block-major-road-to-protest-alleged-killing-of-their-colleague-by-soldier-over-n200-in-rivers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">truck drivers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the inferno had been put off by firefighters and traffic has also been diverted to ease the free flow of traffic.<\/p>\n<p>Umar implored motorists to cooperate with the FRSC personnel and other sister agencies to reduce the time being spent in the gridlocks.<\/p>\n<p>He further enjoined motorists to drive cautiously and adhere strictly to traffic rules and regulations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two persons have been confirmed dead in a tanker explosion that occurred on Wednesday on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
