A really special day for our family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He came 87th in Tuesday\u2019s 20-kilometre individual biathlon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can barely handle how cute this girl is, and I can\u2019t wait to get home to meet her!! @caitlinnordgren we did good,\u201d he wrote on Instagram on Wednesday alongside a picture of his newborn daughter.<\/p>\n<p>His wife Caitlin Nordgren, a meteorologist for NBC, told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/09\/epl-why-i-benched-cristiano-ronaldo-for-1-1-draw-with-burnley-rangnick\/\">US broadcaster<\/a> before she gave birth that the couple had realised as soon as she was pregnant that it was \u201cnot good timing for us\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFinding out Leif would most likely not be here for our baby\u2019s arrival was absolutely sad,\u201d she had written on Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>But she said there was \u201ca silver lining\u201d because her husband\u2019s presence inside the strict Covid-19 \u2018bubble\u2019 surrounding the Olympics meant she could easily get hold of him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s essentially in a little bit of a lockdown and therefore he will be a little bit more available to answer my phone calls and things like that,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t wait to get the Games over with and get back home,\u201d Leif Nordgren said after the race. \u201cIt\u2019s really exciting to have something so big to go home to now.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After being apart from his wife since mid-November, US biathlete Leif Nordgren saw his wife give birth to their first child via video chat from the Beijing Games the day before his first race.
