{"id":146983,"date":"2022-02-10T16:00:47","date_gmt":"2022-02-10T15:00:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=146983"},"modified":"2022-02-10T16:01:09","modified_gmt":"2022-02-10T15:01:09","slug":"vat-update-records-by-feb-25-facebook-tells-nigerian-customers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/10\/vat-update-records-by-feb-25-facebook-tells-nigerian-customers\/","title":{"rendered":"VAT: Update records by Feb 25, Facebook tells Nigerian customers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The parent company of Facebook, Meta has disclosed that Nigerian customers should update their value-added tax (VAT) identification numbers by February 25.<\/p>\n<p>This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the social media giant.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The company said it made recent updates to allow some Nigerian customers to provide 11 or 12 digit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/07\/akeredolu-we-have-renovated-over-600-schools-in-ondo\/\">VAT<\/a> identification (ID) to pay the 7.5 percent charge.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">It also added that those who already have their VAT ID can easily use receipts for other paid taxes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cIt was identified that some Nigerian customers were unable to provide their 11- or 12-digit VAT ID. An update has been made so that our system will now accept both 11- and 12-digit VAT IDs. If you want your VAT ID to show up on your ads receipts, please take the following steps below to update your VAT ID,\u201d the statement reads.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cIn addition, if you have previously provided a VAT ID that is not 11 or 12 digits, please update it by 25 February 2022. All VAT IDs that do not comply with this format requirement will be removed after this day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cIf you are registered for VAT and provide your VAT ID, your VAT ID will show up on your ads receipts. In the event that you\u2019re entitled to recover the VAT, this may help you recover any VAT you paid to the Nigerian tax authorities.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Meta said customers should follow the following steps to add their VAT ID to their ad account.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cGo to payment settings, click \u201cedit\u201d business info, scroll down to the field labelled \u201cVAT ID\u201d and add your VAT ID,\u201d the company said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Last year, Facebook (now META) had announced all advertisers from Nigeria would pay an additional 7.5 percent VAT on ad<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0placement from January 1, 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The parent company of Facebook, Meta has disclosed that Nigerian customers should update their value-added tax (VAT) identification numbers by February 25.
