{"id":147102,"date":"2022-02-10T21:34:37","date_gmt":"2022-02-10T20:34:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=147102"},"modified":"2022-02-10T21:36:41","modified_gmt":"2022-02-10T20:36:41","slug":"just-in-mtn-pays-253-86m-balance-to-fg-for-5g-licence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/10\/just-in-mtn-pays-253-86m-balance-to-fg-for-5g-licence\/","title":{"rendered":"JUST IN: MTN pays $253.86m balance to FG for 5G licence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MTN Nigeria has paid the remaining $253.86 million to complete the $273.6 million fifth generation (5G) licence fee to the Federal Government before the February 24 deadline, an industry source said on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>MTN and Mafab Communications were allocated slots for the 3.5 gigahertz (GHz) spectrum dedicated to the deployment of the technology after emerging winners conducted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/28\/ncc-warns-nigerians-on-two-new-ways-hackers-steal-information-through-phone-charging-facebook\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nigerian Communications Commission<\/a> (NCC) in Abuja last year after 11 rounds of bidding that lasted eight hours.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Information Memorandum (IM) for the spectrum auction, the Commission had set $197.4million as reserve price for each slot of the spectrum.
