{"id":147351,"date":"2022-02-11T12:43:55","date_gmt":"2022-02-11T11:43:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=147351"},"modified":"2022-02-11T15:03:46","modified_gmt":"2022-02-11T14:03:46","slug":"driver-bags-life-jail-for-raping-4-year-old-pupil-of-unilag-women-society-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/11\/driver-bags-life-jail-for-raping-4-year-old-pupil-of-unilag-women-society-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Driver bags life jail for raping 4-year-old pupil of UNILAG women society school"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A driver, Abiodun Matthew, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for raping a four-year-old pupil of the University of Lagos Women Society Nursery and Primary School, Akoka, Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>According to PUNCH, Matthew, who used to pick two pupils at the school after closing hours on the instruction of their parents became close to a teacher at the school, identified as Madumere.<\/p>\n<p>Madumere sometimes left the pupils in the care of the driver.<\/p>\n<p>It was during the period that Mathew molested and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/09\/how-i-was-hypnotised-raped-impregnated-by-prophet-16-year-old\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">raped<\/a> the minor in the school premises on March 23, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The 39-year-old driver was arrested by the police and charged with sexual assault by penetration.<\/p>\n<p>He pleaded not guilty to the charge.<\/p>\n<p>The trial commenced and the prosecution called four witnesses.<\/p>\n<p>Delivering her judgement on Thursday, Justice Abiola Soladoye of the Lagos State Special Offences Court held that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.<\/p>\n<p>She said, \u201cThe defendant\u2019s defence of alibi does not fly. His statement that he was elsewhere when the act occurred was false as he was busy fiddling with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/09\/01\/kenyan-woman-found-dead-with-her-private-parts-bleeding-after-hosting-lover\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">private parts<\/a> of the victim.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe defendant having been found guilty as charged under Section 261 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State is hereby sentenced to life imprisonment with no option of fine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis name is to be entered into the Sexual Offenders Register maintained by the Lagos State Government.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A driver, Abiodun Matthew, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for raping a four-year-old pupil of the University of Lagos Women Society Nursery and Primary School, Akoka, Lagos.
