{"id":148370,"date":"2022-02-14T03:28:57","date_gmt":"2022-02-14T02:28:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=148370"},"modified":"2022-02-14T03:28:57","modified_gmt":"2022-02-14T02:28:57","slug":"49-year-old-man-remanded-for-killing-wife-in-enugu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/14\/49-year-old-man-remanded-for-killing-wife-in-enugu\/","title":{"rendered":"49-year-old man remanded for killing wife in Enugu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>49-year-old Remigius Nwaju has been remanded in Enugu Correctional Centre for allegedly killing his wife, Philomena Nwaju.<\/p>\n<p>The accused was said to have committed the offence on November 15, 2021 at No. 7 Ajali Crescent Independence Layout, Enugu.<\/p>\n<p>According to court document, Nwaju was arraigned on two-count charge before Chief Magistrate Ngozi Edeani in charge No CME\/15C\/2022.<\/p>\n<p>Nwaju could not take his plea when the charge was read to him because the court has no jurisdiction to entertain a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/09\/two-sentenced-to-death-for-murder-of-sex-worker-in-anambra\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">murder<\/a> case.<\/p>\n<p>The chief magistrate ordered that the accused be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/21\/gravedigger-remanded-for-raping-11-year-old-in-ondo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">remanded<\/a>\u00a0in correctional centre while the case file is transmitted to the Director of Public Prosecution for advice.<\/p>\n<p>Magistrate Edeani adjourned the case to February 23, 2022 to consider the report from the DPP.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>49-year-old Remigius Nwaju has been remanded in Enugu Correctional Centre for allegedly killing his wife, Philomena Nwaju.
