D\u2019Tigress, the Nigerian national women\u2019s basketball team, are to receive a cash reward of N25 million from the Federal Government for winning the 2020 Afrobasketball Championships in Cameroon.<\/p>\n

D\u2019Tigress beat Mali in the final of the Championships in Cameroon in 2021 to win the Afrobasketball women\u2019s title for the third time in a row.<\/p>\n

Sunday Dare, the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, had recommended that a token of appreciation be given to the African queens of the courts for doing the nation proud.<\/p>\n

The minister in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja said the request<\/a> has now received the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari.<\/p>\n

The impressive D\u2019 Tigress also on Sunday qualified as Africa\u2019s sole representative to the FIBA women\u2019s World Cup slated for Sydney, Australia in September.<\/p>\n
