{"id":150675,"date":"2022-02-18T19:45:43","date_gmt":"2022-02-18T18:45:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=150675"},"modified":"2022-02-18T19:45:43","modified_gmt":"2022-02-18T18:45:43","slug":"ndlea-arraigns-man-for-allegedly-being-in-possession-of-tramadol","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/18\/ndlea-arraigns-man-for-allegedly-being-in-possession-of-tramadol\/","title":{"rendered":"NDLEA arraigns man for allegedly being in possession of tramadol"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>49-year-old man, Ezekiel Ibe, has arraigned before the Federal High Court in Lagos for allegedly being in possession tramadol.<\/p>\n<p>The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/16\/drug-cartel-was-working-with-dcp-kyaris-men-not-our-officers-ndlea-tells-police\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NDLEA<\/a> prosecutor, Jerry Aernan, said the defendant was arrested on December 23, 2021, at Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos, for unlawful possession of 5,458. 894 kilograms of Tramadol, without lawful authority<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the trial Judge on Thursday, February 17, Justice Yellim , the prosecutor said the offence is contrary to and punishable under Section 11(c) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act Cap N20 Laws of the Federation of Nigerian, 2004.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-150678 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/02\/kunlenet07\/2022\/02\/18\/Ezekiel-Ibe-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"1067\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/02\/kunlenet07\/2022\/02\/18\/Ezekiel-Ibe-2.jpeg 800w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/02\/kunlenet07\/2022\/02\/18\/Ezekiel-Ibe-2-225x300.jpeg 225w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/02\/kunlenet07\/2022\/02\/18\/Ezekiel-Ibe-2-768x1024.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The charge read: \u201cThat you Ezekiel Ibe, 48, male adult, on or about December 23, 2021, at Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos State, within the jurisdiction of this court l, without lawful authority knowingly possessed 5,458. 894 kilogrammes of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/27\/photos-ndlea-intercepts-heroin-at-lagos-airport-seizes-8-3m-tramadol-caps-56782-bottles-of-codeine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tramadol<\/a> Psychotropic substance similar to cocaine, heroin, LSD, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 11(c) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act Cap N20 Laws of the Federation of Nigerian, 2004.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.<\/p>\n<p>Upon the defendant\u2019s not guilty plea, the prosecutor asked the court for a trial date.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to the prosecutor\u2019s request, the defendant\u2019s lawyer, Mr. Maxwell Okpara, informed the court that he had filed a bail application for his client due to the clients poor health condition.<\/p>\n<p>In her ruling, Justice Bogoro granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N10 million with two sureties, and also ordered that one of the sureties must be a landed property owner either in Victoria Island or Ikoyi area of Lagos State, adding that both the defendant must submit two passport photographs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>49-year-old man, Ezekiel Ibe, has arraigned before the Federal High Court in Lagos for allegedly being in possession tramadol.
