{"id":151459,"date":"2022-02-20T21:00:53","date_gmt":"2022-02-20T20:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=151459"},"modified":"2022-02-20T21:00:53","modified_gmt":"2022-02-20T20:00:53","slug":"we-are-looking-for-lasting-solution-to-petrol-scarcity-fg-tells-nigerians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/20\/we-are-looking-for-lasting-solution-to-petrol-scarcity-fg-tells-nigerians\/","title":{"rendered":"We are looking for lasting solution to petrol scarcity, FG tells Nigerians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The federal government has called on Nigerians to exercise patience as it finds &#8220;lasting solutions&#8221; to the scarcity of premium motor spirit (PMS) in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The call was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by Horatius Egua, the senior adviser on media and communications to Timipre Sylva, minister of state for petroleum resource.<\/p>\n<p>The minister said the government is aware of the hardship faced by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/17\/n5k-means-a-lot-sadiya-farouq-says-some-poor-nigerians-shed-tears-when-given\/\">Nigerians<\/a> as a result of the scarcity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the last weeks, Nigerians have grappled with fuel scarcity, not because of the absence of supply of products but due to inspection failure, which allowed adulterated products into the country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is regrettable, and the federal government sympathises with the citizenry over the unforeseen hardship, occasioned by the inevitable scarcity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet me once again appeal to Nigerians to be patient with the government in finding lasting solutions to the crisis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is unprecedented and showed that we on the government side are not afraid to take responsibility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The minister said the Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (MDPRA) is monitoring fuel stations and working to ensure normalcy returns soon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is not a time to trade blames as is customary in Nigeria. It is, therefore, not a time to query anyone but a time to come together to salvage the plight of the average Nigerian,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the storm settles, there will be time enough to investigate and get to the bottom, so that this does not repeat itself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Muhammadu Buhari\u2019s charge to all parties and agencies concerned is to work together to ensure that normalcy returns quickly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Nigerian people deserve the best and the government is determined to set the country on the right path of petroleum products availability and sustainability.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The federal government has called on Nigerians to exercise patience as it finds &#8220;lasting solutions&#8221; to the scarcity of premium motor spirit (PMS) in the country.
