{"id":152247,"date":"2022-02-22T11:24:05","date_gmt":"2022-02-22T10:24:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=152247"},"modified":"2022-02-22T11:24:05","modified_gmt":"2022-02-22T10:24:05","slug":"body-of-missing-dad-found-in-river-being-eaten-by-huge-crocodile-in-indonesia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/22\/body-of-missing-dad-found-in-river-being-eaten-by-huge-crocodile-in-indonesia\/","title":{"rendered":"Body of missing dad found in river being eaten by huge crocodile in Indonesia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After he battled to fight off an enormous crocodile, an Indonesian father has been attacked and eaten by the huge reptile.<\/p>\n<p>The 13ft-long croc dragged 51 years old Luther, underwater while his friends helplessly tried to scare it away, in North Kalimantan province, Indonesia last Tuesday, Feb. 15.<\/p>\n<p>He had been bathing in the water after gathering palm leaves by the Bebatu River when the beast pounced on him.<\/p>\n<p>Luther fought with the croc and hit it on the head but it refused to let him go.<\/p>\n<p>Footage shows the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/06\/british-teenager-survives-crocodile-attack-in-zambia\/\">crocodile<\/a> dragging a screaming Luther into the water.<\/p>\n<p>A voice is heard saying in a video that captured the incident: &#8220;This is where a person was attacked by a crocodile but have not yet been found until now. We are making a video here.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-152250\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/02\/chioma_adebiyi\/2022\/02\/22\/6213b58029688-300x176.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"176\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/02\/chioma_adebiyi\/2022\/02\/22\/6213b58029688-300x176.png 300w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/02\/chioma_adebiyi\/2022\/02\/22\/6213b58029688-768x450.png 768w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/02\/chioma_adebiyi\/2022\/02\/22\/6213b58029688-357x210.png 357w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/02\/chioma_adebiyi\/2022\/02\/22\/6213b58029688.png 799w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The attack was reported to authorities who searched the area without success. Luther was reportedly last seen by a local who was able to record the incident\u00a0along the same river while the crocodile feasted on him and disappeared again.<\/p>\n<p>However, the filmmaker did not expect that the crocodile would actually appear with the victim.<\/p>\n<p>The terrified local can be heard saying from the background: &#8220;Oh my God the crocodile ate the man.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Village head Mahmuda said the incident was immediately reported to rescuers to help in searching for the man.<\/p>\n<p>He said: &#8220;It really happened here. The victim&#8217;s name was Luther. Incidents of people being attacked by crocodiles in the canal also happened before.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Plantation officials have even put up notice boards to warn villagers not to come close to the canal that read: &#8220;No activity in this area, it&#8217;s dangerous.
