{"id":154158,"date":"2022-02-26T09:06:14","date_gmt":"2022-02-26T08:06:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=154158"},"modified":"2022-02-26T09:06:14","modified_gmt":"2022-02-26T08:06:14","slug":"edo-bank-robbery-weve-recovered-n34-5m-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/26\/edo-bank-robbery-weve-recovered-n34-5m-police\/","title":{"rendered":"Edo bank robbery: We\u2019ve recovered N34.5m &#8211; Police"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police in Edo state have disclosed that security operatives have recovered N34.5 million following a recent robbery on some banks in the state.<\/p>\n<p>WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported that seven persons, including two police officers, were confirmed dead following an attack by gunmen on four banks and a police station on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the tragic incident,\u00a0Bello Kontongs, Edo police spokesman stated that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/09\/armed-robbers-invade-anambra-church-steal-clerics-car-at-gunpoint\/\">armed robbers<\/a> used dynamite during the attack.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are four banks that were attacked. We lost two police officers including one from the division that was attacked \u2014 a female constable and then a sergeant that is from Auchi,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, the total casualties of human beings are seven \u2014 two police personnel and five civilians \u2014 including a mad man.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Giving an update on the incident in an interview with TheCable on Saturday, Kontongs said the police recovered N34,510,000.<\/p>\n<p>He also said the recovery was made possible with the support of vigilante operatives and the chief of the area.<\/p>\n<p>Five cars suspected to have been used by the robbers were also said to have been recovered during the joint operation involving police operatives.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile Phillip Shaibu, Edo deputy governor, paid an assessment visit to the area on Friday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Police in Edo state have disclosed that security operatives have recovered N34.5 million following a recent robbery on some banks in the state.
