{"id":1563,"date":"2021-02-25T15:54:58","date_gmt":"2021-02-25T14:54:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=1563"},"modified":"2021-02-25T15:54:58","modified_gmt":"2021-02-25T14:54:58","slug":"kaduna-govt-announces-mandatory-use-of-residents-card-nin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/02\/25\/kaduna-govt-announces-mandatory-use-of-residents-card-nin\/","title":{"rendered":"Kaduna govt announces mandatory use of residents card, NIN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kaduna State Government, on Thursday, announced that its Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) will only offer services to residents who have the Kaduna Residents Card or the National Identification Number(NIN) as from May 1, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Residents Registration Agency (KADSRRA), Dr Zayyad Tsiga, who made this known in a news conference said to achieve 100% enrolment of Kaduna State Residents into the National Database in the nearest future, there will be additional enrolment centres in all the 255 wards in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/02\/25\/police-arrest-kidnappers-who-killed-kaduna-businessman-after-collecting-n5m-ransom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kaduna state<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to him \u2018\u2019Kaduna state has the second highest number of enrolments into the National Identity Database (NIDB) with 3,130,857 enrolments against the projected population of 9,476,055 million people giving us a coverage of about 33% as at 15th February 2021.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2019This new policy is being implemented with a view to further improve service delivery at all MDAs, the state\u2019s digital economy and e-governance initiatives, social and financial inclusion, and much more, to the benefits of our dearest residents,\u2019\u2019 he argued.<\/p>\n<p>The Executive Secretary added that the model Primary Health Care Centres will be used for the exercise in addition to the current 73 enrolment centers across the State.<\/p>\n<p>He further remarked that: \u2018\u2019the State, through its Residents Registration Agency (KADSRRA), plans to begin the distribution of the State Residents Card in the first quarter of this year,\u2019\u2019, adding that the card \u2018\u2019 seeks to eliminate the need for multiple ID cards across various use cases in the State. Some key examples of such cards include hospital, university, and employee ID cards.\u2018\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Tsiga said that only residents \u2018\u2019who have an NIN, with a valid Kaduna state residential address, will be issued a State Residents Card. This is to ensure that the data of our residents is only collected once.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2019Residents who have obtained their NIN using an address of another state, and now reside in Kaduna, are required to visit any enrolment center to update their NIN with their current Kaduna address in order to get a State Residents Card,\u2019\u2019 he clarified.<\/p>\n<p>He recalled that KADSRRA has been \u2018\u2019working closely with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), since this administration came into office in 2015.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Tsiga added that the working relationship is \u2018\u2019to foster the orderly development of an Identity Sector in order to build a modern Identity Management System for Nigeria, while specifically expediting enrolment of Kaduna State Residents into the National Identity Database (NIDB)&#8221;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kaduna State Government, on Thursday, announced that its Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) will only offer services to residents who have the Kaduna Residents Card or the National Identification Number(NIN) as from May 1, 2021.
