{"id":156657,"date":"2022-03-03T14:30:39","date_gmt":"2022-03-03T13:30:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=156657"},"modified":"2022-03-03T14:30:39","modified_gmt":"2022-03-03T13:30:39","slug":"hadi-sirika-fg-will-open-bid-for-nigeria-air-next-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/03\/hadi-sirika-fg-will-open-bid-for-nigeria-air-next-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Hadi Sirika: FG will open bid for Nigeria Air next week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Minister of aviation, Hadi Sirika has disclosed that the federal government will issue Requests-for-Proposal for the establishment of Nigeria Air next week.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A request for proposal is the process of requesting the bids to evaluate the feasibility, financial health and\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">bidder<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">s\u2019 abilities to undertake a specific project.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This was disclosed to journalists on Wednesday in Abuja by Sirika.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/26\/citizens-will-co-own-nigeria-air-70000-jobs-guaranteed-sirika\/\">Sirika<\/a>,<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0the government would issue requests for proposals to intending investors on March 8, 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThe transaction adviser is going to request for proposal next week Monday. The government will own five percent, Nigerians will own 46 percent, and the international partners\u2019 airlines will take 49 percent shares,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cWe will give them some weeks to respond to the request, then we will announce the winning bidder.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cHowever, in the interim, because the government intends to own only five percent of the airline shares, we are going to go ahead with the AOC (Air Operator Certificate), which has commenced since.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cI believe that by April, we should be able to have our AOC ready, which means, we are ready to start. And once the AOC is in our hands, the offices are secured, the interim board is being constituted, and when they finish signing the contract, we will announce who they are.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Sirika further added that the bidders are temporarily called interim board members and should take over latest by July.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cCurrently, they are called interim because they will hold the airline on an interim basis up to the time the investors will come and take over.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThey are noble people, some are Nigerians, some are not. I think there are about nine of them running the airline and they will begin operations between now and July.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cWithin the period, Nigeria Air would run Lagos and Abuja, and as the situation demands, they may extend to Port Harcourt and other parts of the country.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The minister added that the concession of four<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0major international airport terminals would be completed in the second quarter.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Minister of aviation, Hadi Sirika has disclosed that the federal government will issue Requests-for-Proposal for the establishment of Nigeria Air next week.
