{"id":158106,"date":"2022-03-07T06:08:33","date_gmt":"2022-03-07T05:08:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=158106"},"modified":"2022-03-07T06:59:32","modified_gmt":"2022-03-07T05:59:32","slug":"tension-in-delta-community-as-husband-presents-wifes-corpse-without-eyes-tongue-for-burial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/07\/tension-in-delta-community-as-husband-presents-wifes-corpse-without-eyes-tongue-for-burial\/","title":{"rendered":"Chaos in Delta community as husband presents wife\u2019s corpse for burial without eyes, tongue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The corpse of one, Mrs Comfort Biakpara, has been rejected by her family after they discovered her dead body that was brought for burial was without eyes, tongue and other organs.<\/p>\n<p>Comfort, who was in her early 50s, was said to have been brought to her family compound in Ubulu-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, by her husband, who hailed from the Burutu Local Government Area of the state.<\/p>\n<p>The deceased was said to have been laid in her compound on Saturday for internment when it was discovered that some vital <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/06\/02\/lady-found-dead-in-her-room-with-vital-parts-missing-in-delta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">organs were missing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to PUNCH, a family source said that the incident created apprehension in the community, as youths and elders said the corpse was not their daughter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was terrible yesterday (Saturday). Our sister was brought without eyes, tongue and other organs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs they laid our sister on a bench in the canopy and family members and other people were going to see her, unfortunately, we first discovered that cotton wool was put on her eyes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we raised the alarm and enquired further, we discovered that there were no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/07\/update-how-300-level-unijos-student-was-lured-to-hotel-drugged-killed-eyes-and-other-vital-parts-removed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eyes<\/a> and that was when youths revolted and started scattering everywhere. Some sustained minor injuries in the process.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe husband\u2019s family members who brought the corpse ran away because we were angry over the development. Later, we found out that even her tongue was also removed,\u201d the source said.<\/p>\n<p>The source disclosed that the deceased\u2019s husband was not present.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/22\/corpses-body-parts-arms-found-in-bayelsa-refuse-bins-weekly-waste-mgt-contractor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">corpse<\/a> was said to have being abandoned at the canopy till around 8pm when it was taken to a morgue with the help of some vigilantes in the community.<\/p>\n<p>The source said the family was set for a showdown with the victim\u2019s husband.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The corpse of one, Mrs Comfort Biakpara, has been rejected by her family after they discovered her dead body that was brought for burial was without eyes, tongue and other organs.
