{"id":158448,"date":"2022-03-07T17:49:04","date_gmt":"2022-03-07T16:49:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=158448"},"modified":"2022-03-07T17:49:23","modified_gmt":"2022-03-07T16:49:23","slug":"nigeria-air-partners-to-submit-proposals-fg-tells-private-sector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/07\/nigeria-air-partners-to-submit-proposals-fg-tells-private-sector\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria Air: Partners to submit proposals, FG tells private sector"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The federal government has stated that it has officially opened a bid for proposal on the national carrier.<\/p>\n<p class=\"caps\">This was disclosed on Monday by the aviation ministry via a statement<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0shared on the official Twitter handle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Last week, Hadi Sirika, minister of aviation, announced that the government would issue requests for proposals to intending investors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He added that the government will own only five percent of the airline shares and had already begun with the AOC (Air Operator Certificate).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">According to the statement, the federal government seeks to reposition the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/28\/patronage-still-considerable-despite-aviation-fare-hike-faan\/\">aviation<\/a> sector through diversification of the economy and improve economic growth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThe federal government of Nigeria (FGN), through the federal ministry of aviation, is seeking to reposition Nigeria\u2019s aviation sector, as part of efforts towards the diversification of the economy, promoting the competitiveness of the sector, boosting productivity, and enhancing economic growth,\u201d the statement reads.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cTo this end, the FGN, through the federal ministry of aviation, is inviting interested private parties to submit proposals for the take-over and further development of the National Carrier, the recently launched \u2018Nigeria Air\u2019 to take advantage of the opportunities of the largest market in Africa.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The statement added that interested bidders should visit the website for further information, breaking down percentages for different investors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThe private sector partners\/consortia are expected to comprise an International Airline (max. 49% shares), and Nigerian Financial and Institutional Investors (min. 46% shares), so that the total Nigerian shareholding will hold a minimum of 51% of the shares of Nigeria Air\u2019 (including the 5% non-interactive FGN share), as required by international laws for a National Carrier,\u201d it added<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cInterested parties can download the RFP and the Information Memorandum (1M) from the website: www.nigerianaviationpppprojects.com.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The federal government has stated that it has officially opened a bid for proposal on the national carrier.
