{"id":158863,"date":"2022-03-08T12:36:09","date_gmt":"2022-03-08T11:36:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=158863"},"modified":"2022-03-08T12:36:09","modified_gmt":"2022-03-08T11:36:09","slug":"kano-fake-police-officer-arrested-for-defrauding-victims-using-fake-bank-alert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/08\/kano-fake-police-officer-arrested-for-defrauding-victims-using-fake-bank-alert\/","title":{"rendered":"Kano: Fake police officer arrested for defrauding victims using fake bank alert"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A fake police officer, Yusuf Abdullahi, has been arrested by the police for defrauding members of the public using fake bank alert in Kano state .<\/p>\n<p>The state police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, March 7, said that the suspect has confessed to the crime.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;On the 03\/03\/2022 at about 1330hrs, complaints were received from three people of different addresses within Kano Metropolis, that sometimes in January 2022, someone wore <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/24\/fake-police-officers-arrested-for-demanding-n1m-from-abuja-varsity-student\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Police<\/a> Uniform with name tag &#8220;Abdullahi Sarari&#8221;, went to their shops, made purchases of goods worth One Hundred and Four Thousand Naira (N104,000:00), collected their bank account details and claimed to have respectively made transfers to their various bank accounts,&#8221; the PPRO stated.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-158871 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/03\/kunlenet07\/2022\/03\/08\/fake-police-officer-Yusuf-Abdullahi-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"1421\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/03\/kunlenet07\/2022\/03\/08\/fake-police-officer-Yusuf-Abdullahi-3.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/03\/kunlenet07\/2022\/03\/08\/fake-police-officer-Yusuf-Abdullahi-3-169x300.jpg 169w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/03\/kunlenet07\/2022\/03\/08\/fake-police-officer-Yusuf-Abdullahi-3-576x1024.jpg 576w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/03\/kunlenet07\/2022\/03\/08\/fake-police-officer-Yusuf-Abdullahi-3-768x1364.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Though they did not receive an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/02\/soldier-generates-fake-alert-absconds-with-lagos-pos-operators-n100000\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">alert<\/a> of the payments and learned that he was in Police uniform, they entrusted him, collected his mobile phone number, and allowed him to go. Since then, he has not been picking up their calls and hence, they reported to the Police<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;On receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama\u2019ila Shu\u2019aibu Dikko, fsi detailed a team of Operation Puff Adder led by DSP Lamara Shalele Azare to arrest the culprit.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-158873 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/03\/kunlenet07\/2022\/03\/08\/fake-police-officer-Yusuf-Abdullahi-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"563\" height=\"1000\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/03\/kunlenet07\/2022\/03\/08\/fake-police-officer-Yusuf-Abdullahi-2.jpg 563w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/03\/kunlenet07\/2022\/03\/08\/fake-police-officer-Yusuf-Abdullahi-2-169x300.jpg 169w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 563px) 100vw, 563px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The team immediately swung into action. Following sustained efforts and prolonged follow-up, the suspect, one Yusuf Abdullahi, \u2018m\u2019, alias Abdullahi Sarari, of Gano Town, Dawakin Kudu LGA Kano State was arrested<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;On investigation, the suspect confessed to the crime and further stated that he had a passion for joining the Police, tried many times, and failed in exams; he then met his tailor and saw Police Uniform which he used to intimidate and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/03\/how-a-good-samaritan-defrauded-me-21-year-old-blind-lady\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">defraud<\/a> members of the public<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama\u2019ila Shu\u2019aibu Dikko, ordered for discreet investigation, after which case will be charged to court for prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>Dikko further warns that criminals will have no hiding place in Kano State. They are advised to either repent or leave the State altogether.
