{"id":159408,"date":"2022-03-09T12:39:03","date_gmt":"2022-03-09T11:39:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=159408"},"modified":"2022-03-09T12:39:03","modified_gmt":"2022-03-09T11:39:03","slug":"chelsea-sale-abramovich-considering-first-offer-from-us-billionaire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/09\/chelsea-sale-abramovich-considering-first-offer-from-us-billionaire\/","title":{"rendered":"Chelsea sale: Abramovich considering first offer from US billionaire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After putting the club up for sale, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is allegedly evaluating the first bid from US billionaire Todd Boehly.<\/p>\n<p>The initial bid for Chelsea from Abramovich has been made by Boehly.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Telegraph, the LA Dodgers co-owner is leading a group that includes Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss, and they have officially presented his bid to Raine Group, a New York-based merchant bank.<\/p>\n<p>Raine Group is handling the sale of Chelsea on behalf of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/02\/roman-abramovich-accused-of-having-shareholding-in-russian-firm-making-materials-to-invade-ukraine-experts\/\">Abramovich<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Abramovich wants to sell his interests in the United Kingdom before any penalties are implemented in response to Russia&#8217;s invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the 55-year-old confirmed that after 19 years at the helm, he would look to sell Chelsea, claiming that his decision is in \u201cthe best interest\u201d of the West London club.<\/p>\n<p>The Russian billionaire is looking for around \u00a33 billion and it is understood there are around ten parties interested in making a bid.<\/p>\n<p>The report added that Boehly and the consortium are yet to hear a response from Abramovich, having hoped to skip the queue by getting in an early offer.<\/p>\n<p>Boehly has a reported net worth of \u00a34.7bn, while Wyss is worth around \u00a33.8bn, meaning the pair would have little issue in raising the kind of capital required to purchase Chelsea from Abramovich.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After putting the club up for sale, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is allegedly evaluating the first bid from US billionaire Todd Boehly.
