{"id":160424,"date":"2022-03-11T13:49:56","date_gmt":"2022-03-11T12:49:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=160424"},"modified":"2022-03-11T13:54:04","modified_gmt":"2022-03-11T12:54:04","slug":"court-remands-brt-driver-arrested-over-bamises-murder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/11\/court-remands-brt-driver-arrested-over-bamises-murder\/","title":{"rendered":"Court remands BRT driver arrested over Bamise\u2019s murder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A magistrate court sitting in Yaba, Lagos has remanded Andrew Nice, driver of the BRT vehicle boarded by Bamise Ayanwola, the late 22-year-old fashion designer.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that Bamise\u00a0went missing after she boarded a BRT bus driven by Nice at the Ajah axis of the state on February 26.<\/p>\n<p>Nine days later, the corpse of the 22-year-old fashion designer was found at Carter Bridge in Lagos Island.<\/p>\n<p>Subsequently, Nice was arrested by officials of the Department of State Services at Ogun state after he fled Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, the police filed a four-count charge against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/10\/bayelsa-suspected-cultists-behead-newly-married-man-hang-head-on-electric-pole\/\">suspect<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The charges are alleged murder, rape, and interference with the deceased\u2019s corpse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat you ANDREW NICE OMINNIKORON \u2018M\u2019 and others still at large, on the 26 day of February, 2022 at about 2000hrs, along Ajah \u2013 Oshodi Expressway Lagos, in the Lagos State Magisterial District, whilst on duty as a BRT driver within metropolis with BRT BUS CODE NUMBER 257 did, forcefully had sexual intercourse with Late AYANWOLE OLUWABAMISE \u2018F\u2019 Aged 22yrs (Now Deceased) and thereafter, pushed her out of the moving BRT Bus, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015,\u201d part of the charge sheet reads.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat you ANDREW NICE OMINNIKORON \u2018M\u2019 and others still at large, on the 26th day of February, 2022 at about 2000hrs, along Ajah \u2013 Oshodi Expressway Lagos, in the Lagos State Magisterial District, whilst on duty as a BRT driver within metropolis with BRT BUS CODE NUMBER 257 did, improperly or indecently interferes with the corpse of Late AYANWOLE OLUWABAMISE \u2018F\u2019 by dumping the deceased along the express concrete pavement, and thereby, committed an offence punishable under Section 165 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>O.A Salawu, the magistrate, granted the remand request of the police and ordered that the suspect be held at the Ikoyi correctional centre.<\/p>\n<p>The case was adjourned to April 11.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A magistrate court sitting in Yaba, Lagos has remanded Andrew Nice, driver of the BRT vehicle boarded by Bamise Ayanwola, the late 22-year-old fashion designer.
