{"id":162306,"date":"2022-03-15T20:41:10","date_gmt":"2022-03-15T19:41:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=162306"},"modified":"2022-03-15T20:41:10","modified_gmt":"2022-03-15T19:41:10","slug":"blackout-worsens-as-national-grid-suffers-second-collapse-within-48-hours","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/15\/blackout-worsens-as-national-grid-suffers-second-collapse-within-48-hours\/","title":{"rendered":"Blackout worsens as national grid suffers second collapse within 48 hours"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some parts of the country were on Tuesday thrown into darkness following another system collapse of the National Grid.<\/p>\n<p>The Head, Corporate Communications, Ikeja Electric Plc, Mr Felix Ofulue, confirmed the development to the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>Eko Electricity Distribution Company also confirmed the partial collapse of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/15\/why-national-grid-collapsed-apgc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">grid<\/a> in a public notice.<\/p>\n<p>The Electricity Distribution Companies said the collapse of the grid occurred at 5.10 p.m on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>They said the collapse had disrupted power supply within their networks with their customers experiencing blackouts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDear esteemed customers, we would like to inform you of another system collapse on the national grid which occurred at 5:10 p.m today (Tuesday).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are monitoring the situation and will continue to provide updates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce again we apologise for the inconvenience,\u201d Eko DisCo said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>On his part, Ofulue said Ikeja Electric had received notification of the collapse and was waiting for the grid to be restored.<\/p>\n<p>NAN reports that the collapse is happening barely 48 hours after the national grid collapsed at 10.40 a.m on Monday resulting in blackouts in some parts of the country.<\/p>\n<p>Supply was, however, restored to the grid at 12.20 p.m by the Transmission Company of Nigeria.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some parts of the country were on Tuesday thrown into darkness following another system collapse of the National Grid.
