{"id":165251,"date":"2022-03-22T03:22:47","date_gmt":"2022-03-22T02:22:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=165251"},"modified":"2022-03-22T03:26:59","modified_gmt":"2022-03-22T02:26:59","slug":"witness-narrates-how-uncle-drugged-defiled-minor-in-lagos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/22\/witness-narrates-how-uncle-drugged-defiled-minor-in-lagos\/","title":{"rendered":"Witness narrates how \u2018uncle\u2019 drugged, defiled minor in Lagos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A social worker, Mrs Rasheedat Sanusi,\u00a0 has narrated how one Ismail Abdulmadiu allegedly defiled a 13-year-old minor in his care on her first day of menstruation to an Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court .<\/p>\n<p>Sanusi stated this on Monday while testifying at the continuation of Abdulmadiu\u2019s trial on a count charge of defilement after being led in evidence by the state counsel, Mrs Olufunke Adegoke.<\/p>\n<p>According to News Agency of Nigeria, Sanusi currently serving at the state\u2019s Education District One, Agege said that the minor, aged 13, confided in her school teacher that she was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/15\/prophet-sentenced-to-12-years-imprisonment-for-raping-impregnating-teenager-in-malawi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sexually abused<\/a> by Abdulmadiu, who she lived with at Baruwa, Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>The social worker said that the teacher reported the case to one Ms Precious Eberechuckwu, a human rights activist, working for Ireti Resources Centre at Alimosho, Lagos State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dOn Feb. 15, 2021, Eberechuckwu came to our office to report the case of sexual abuse of the survivor. I visited the school the same day and interviewed the survivor privately in one of the offices in the school.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe revealed to me that the defendant had been sexually abusing her since July 20, 2019. She said that particular day was the day she started her menstrual flow and he threatened to beat her if she would tell anyone after he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/16\/how-bishop-drugged-defiled-two-underage-girls-in-lagos-social-worker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">defiled<\/a> her,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The witness testified that the survivor told her that the defendant came to the room she shared with the defendant\u2019s children at midnight.<\/p>\n<p>Sanusi told the court that the defendant had defiled the survivor on different occasions after giving her different substances to drink.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe survivor told me that the defendant, on different occasions, added a substance into ice cream and gave her before she got to bed at night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe said she usually felt sleepy after taking the ice cream, and there was an occasion at which she saw the clothe she wore to sleep on the floor when she woke up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe said that on another occasion, the defendant added a substance called \u2018gold fly\u2019 in her pap. I discovered that the substance is a libido booster when I checked online.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe also said the defendant once gave her a pink drug to take and she brought the drug to the school and showed her class teacher, who informed the human right activist about the ongoing incident,\u201d the witness said.<\/p>\n<p>Sanusi said that she reported the case at the Alagolo Police Station, Lagos State, and the defendant was subsequently arrested.<\/p>\n<p>She said that the defendant told the police that the only occasion he tried to have sex with the minor was when he entered her room and was caught by his wife.<\/p>\n<p>Defence counsel, Mr Gboyega Oyewole (SAN), during cross-examination of the witness, however, told the court that her evidence was hearsay.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the witness did not include all she told the court in her statement to the police.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn your statement to the police, all you have said before the court is not in your statement,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The witness replied that everything she told the court was written in her police statement except the issue of drugs, which she could not include due to time constraints.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Abiola Soladoye adjourned the case until May 16 for the continuation of trial.<\/p>\n<p>NAN reports that Abdulmadiu is charged with defilement, contrary to Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>According to the prosecution, the defendant defiled a 13-year-old, who lived with him at his residence on Peace Estate, Ipaja, Lagos State.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A social worker, Mrs Rasheedat Sanusi,\u00a0 has narrated how one Ismail Abdulmadiu allegedly defiled a 13-year-old minor in his care on her first day of menstruation to an Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court .
