{"id":16560,"date":"2021-04-02T13:25:43","date_gmt":"2021-04-02T12:25:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=16560"},"modified":"2021-04-02T13:25:43","modified_gmt":"2021-04-02T12:25:43","slug":"update-court-remands-woman-24-for-allegedly-killing-her-husbands-new-wife-in-niger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/04\/02\/update-court-remands-woman-24-for-allegedly-killing-her-husbands-new-wife-in-niger\/","title":{"rendered":"UPDATE: Court remands woman 24, for allegedly killing her husband&#8217;s new wife in Niger"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A housewife identified as Amina Aliyu and three other accused persons have been remanded by a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Minna, Niger State over allegations of conspiracy and culpable homicide.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that the 19-year-old newlywed identified as Fatima Aliyu was\u00a0allegedly beaten to death with a pestle and her body set on fire by Amina in Minna, on Tuesday March 23, seven weeks after her wedding.<\/p>\n<p>Operatives of Homicide section of the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) Niger State Police Command, on Wednesday, March 31 arraigned Amina who&#8217;s nursing a three-week-old baby boy alongside Aisha Mohammed, Zainab Aliyu and Fauziyya Rabi\u2019u.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16569\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16569\" style=\"width: 720px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-16569 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/04\/adewale_chocomilo\/2021\/04\/02\/6066d71abd4ad.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"960\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/04\/adewale_chocomilo\/2021\/04\/02\/6066d71abd4ad.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/04\/adewale_chocomilo\/2021\/04\/02\/6066d71abd4ad-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-16569\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">19-year-old newlywed, Fatima Aliyu<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The accused persons were alleged to have conspired among themselves to kill Amina\u2019s co-wife, Fatima.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Police First Information Report (FIR), Amina Aliyu and Fati Aliyu were both married to the same husband and reside on Mandela Road, Sauka-Kahuta area of Minna.<\/p>\n<p>The charges read in part:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou, Amina Aliyu, left your apartment to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/04\/01\/man-who-allegedly-burnt-his-girlfriends-son-to-death-pleads-guilty\/\">apartment<\/a> of Fati Aliyu where you used your wooden pestle and without any provocation attacked and hit Fati Aliyu who was newly married on her head to which she sustained injury and fell down unconscious inside her kitchen floor; and you Amina Aliyu, A\u2019isha Mohammed, Zainab Aliyu, and Fauziyya Rabi\u2019u pulled her unconscious body to her parlour and set her body set ablaze as a result of which she later died.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor told the court that on the 23rd of March, 2021, one Bello Lawal of Gwari Motors, Bosso Road, Minna, had reported at Tudun Wada Police station that the four accused conspired among themselves and killed Fati Aliyu.<\/p>\n<p>The two-count charges according to the Police prosecutor Ahmed Daudu Kwangoma, an\u00a0 Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) were punishable under section 97 and 221 of the penal code.<\/p>\n<p>However, the court only read the charges to the accused persons and refused to take their plea on the ground that the court lacked jurisdiction to handle the trial.<\/p>\n<p>The presiding Chief Magistrate, Nasir Mu\u2019azu thereby requested the police to hasten investigation on the matter and ordered Amina Aliyu and A\u2019isha Aliyu to be remanded in Minna Custodial Centre, while Zainab Aliyu and Fauziyya Rabi\u2019u be remanded in juvenile remand homes.<\/p>\n<p>The case was adjourned till 27th of April, 2021 for further mention.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A housewife identified as Amina Aliyu and three other accused persons have been remanded by a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Minna, Niger State over allegations of conspiracy and culpable homicide.
