{"id":168200,"date":"2022-03-27T14:06:13","date_gmt":"2022-03-27T13:06:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=168200"},"modified":"2022-03-27T14:06:13","modified_gmt":"2022-03-27T13:06:13","slug":"six-years-after-fg-revisits-1bn-solar-power-investment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/27\/six-years-after-fg-revisits-1bn-solar-power-investment\/","title":{"rendered":"Six years after, FG revisits $1bn solar power investment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Government has disclosed that it has\u00a0arranged a meeting for a proposed $1bn investment in solar power.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed project, which is expected to generate 10,000MW, has been stalled since 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The government said it is expecting to see the results of the planned investment by 2023.<\/p>\n<p>These were disclosed by the Special Adviser to President on Infrastructure, Ahmad Zakari, via his Twitter handle.<\/p>\n<p>According to Zakari, the projects are expected to be a game-changer in Nigerian electricity production.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, he explained that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/27\/2023-presidency-amaechi-gets-extra-security-amid-rumour-of-buharis-endorsement\/\">Presidency<\/a> would continue to work on emergency measures to stabilise power.<\/p>\n<p>Zakari said, \u201cThe Ministry of Finance and Power has structured a meeting for $1bn investment for 1000MW of solar stalled since 2016 and we expect some on grid by 2023.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe projects range from 50MW to 100MW across Sokoto, Kano, Jigawa, Nasarawa, Abuja, Bauchi, some of these states will be joining the league of states with on-grid power plants for the first time.
