{"id":16824,"date":"2021-04-03T04:16:15","date_gmt":"2021-04-03T03:16:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=16824"},"modified":"2021-04-03T04:16:15","modified_gmt":"2021-04-03T03:16:15","slug":"gov-makinde-free-to-dump-party-south-west-pdp-chairmen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/04\/03\/gov-makinde-free-to-dump-party-south-west-pdp-chairmen\/","title":{"rendered":"Gov Makinde free to dump party &#8211; South-West PDP chairmen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some state chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South-West have said Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is free to dump the party.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman of the South-West<a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/29\/pdp-suspends-former-niger-governor-babangida-aliyu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> PDP<\/a> Chairmen, Dr Sikirulai Ogundele, in a statement on behalf of PDP chairmen in Ekiti, Lagos and Osun states \u2013 Otunba Bisi Kolawole, Adedeji Doherty and Sunday Bisi, respectively stated this on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>This is coming days after the governor warned the National Working Committee of the party against postponing the South-West congress of the party.<\/p>\n<p>Ogundele said it was shocking that Makinde could insult and threaten \u201cthe custodians of the party just because they choose to obey an order of the court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The statement read in part, \u201cWe read with disgust the statement credited to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/27\/second-term-bid-will-not-stop-me-from-fighting-corruption-says-oyo-gov-makinde\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Governor Seyi Makinde<\/a> of Oyo State, warning leaders and member of the National Working Committee of our great party, the People\u2019s Democratic Party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Working Committee of this party was duly elected just like the governor, and as stakeholders, we all have our own roles to play \u2013 more so that he is only the governor of Oyo State by providence and not the Governor-General of the South-West. Even in Oyo State, the governor is not the only stakeholder of the PDP there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo us, threatening that there will be consequences if the party obeys the court order concerning the South-West congress is the height of political rascality and it should be made clear to all lovers of PDP that nothing will be worse than what he has done before by jumping from one political bed to another. It is on record that in 2015, he was persuaded to accept the senatorial ticket, yet, he left the PDP for the SDP (Social Democratic Party).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ogundele added, \u201cWho cares if he chooses to leave the PDP this time, too? Is he not even already a sinking ship in Oyo State, placing members of the SDP and ADC (Action Democratic Congress) over and above those of the PDP?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout apologies, Governor Makinde can do his worse.
